I think that's how Shrader started out.

But after working with Anae / Beck, he improved substantially as a passer.

More than adequate as a passer his final two years.
I wish they had real sack numbers in college.

When her actually threw the ball, it was usually because everything else went well. Protection, open receiver etc.

His passing numbers were similar per pass to McCord but McCord made a million tough throws at the same efficiency while shrader just ate the ball all the time

But since they didn't keep track of sacks which is crazy, you can't make any way adjustment they way they do in the pros (adjusted net yards per attempt)

I'm glad they switched to him and he had his moments

Shrader’s issue was being a dual threat QB with an undersized line that was unable to protect him. This led to more scrambles and more hits behind the LOS resulting in his inability to stay healthy. Most of his bad passes came with an injured shoulder even though we didn’t know it at the time.

Shrader was a winner and a freakin BALLER
Yeah, he didn't get great protection on passes, but he also could have protected himself better on runs, and he often kept the ball on read options when he could have given it. His best trait, his tough running, is what injured him and hurt his passing.
