I am doing this with the assumption that all who participated in Senior Day leave and am generally not factoring the incoming class till they sign. Though I don't think more than a couple could start, some more will get in the rotation. Obviously, a ton can change over 9 months and 3 sets of practices.

QB-With about 9 games under his belt and improvement shown towards the end of the year, gotta believe Hunt is the favorite. Wilson, Kimble, and Long (Don't think Edouard will have enough practice time to win the job) will battle, but they'll have to show a lot to knock him off.

RB-PTG will get the start as the senior, but Morris and Mcfarlane will get plenty of carries. Obviously Smith starts if he returns and I hope b/w him and AAM, at least one returns to give us a power back for short yardage/goal line.

WR-Broyld, Estime, Cornelius are my projected starters based on their production. Kobena and Funderburk also return and should contribute. I would not move Broyld, but if I did, the only thing I would consider is tomake him more of a fast TE to exploit his quickness even more. I think our depth at LB is good enough that it's not worth having him start from scratch again as a Junior with a totally new role. This isn't even accounting for West, who lost his spot on my roster by participating in Senior Day (Hope it was worth it, Jarrod). When you add in the incoming Freshmen, this is the best I've felt about this position in terms of quality depth in a long time. Would like to move Ben Lewis to Safety and Keenan Hale to CB to give us some more size and depth back there.

TE-Parris starts and i'm going to assume Moore stays at TE for at least one more year, as we only return one other TE with experience. I am excited to see what Batten could do w/ his speed and Provo is supposed to be a good blocker.

OL-Lasker-Trudo-Emerich-Robinson-Foy. I was always under the impression that Knapp was the heir apparent to Hickey, but hard to ignore that Lasker replaced him the last 2 games. I assume he would be the "sixth man", as I haven't heard anything about the other young linemen.

K-Krautman if he's 110%. If he's not, I hope we bring in another top kicker who wants to kick in a Dome.

KR-Estime-Finally

I've come up with a new guy I think Broyld should try to be like: Ladarius Green, the backup TE for the Chargers. He's a new breed...6-6, 240, 4.4 speed. The hybrid TE/WR, just like Jimmy Graham.

I know a lot of people are adamantly against Broyld being turned into more of a TE, but I still maintain it's his best shot at making the NFL. He should look at guys like Tim Wright of the Bucs, Graham, and Green. Add 10-15 pounds of muscle and become a pass catching TE that gives defensive coordinators absolute fits in terms of trying to have a linebacker cover him.

i hope he and hunt throw and catch 100,000 balls this winter and spring

they better do it in a hall way or else 1/3 of the throws will go across the parking lot and another 1/4 get dropped.. they would spend more time tracking balls down than actually throwing.

West is getting his degree, just like the other two juniors that went through senior day. His play on the field makes him lose his starting job, not him being part of senior day when he gets his degree...

Thought it was clear that I was joking about that-West has actually played better recently before getting hurt

I think that Funderburke starts

i believe keenan hale is done here. and im not ready yet to throw in the towel on ben lewis at wr. i think he makes the 2 deep next year

Do you guys think Smith and Hickey are gone??

Hickey was just left off the "all ACC teams" -- wasn't 1st 2nd or 3rd team. And although I really like and appreciate Jerome Smith, I don't think he has much of an NFL career ahead of him.

I think both of those guys should come back (and not just for selfish reasons). Hickey got screwed by not being All ACC-- i think he's be a 3rd round pick... might as well try and play his way into the 1st or 2nd round.

Smith i think is too slow for NFL... might as well get that extra year of free schooling.

Just my thoughts anyway... wish them both the best regardless.

Hale does seem likely to depart. He hasn't made any noise yet and we're recruiting over the top of most of the other guys on the roster as it is.

i am under the impression injuries are ending hale's career

That's a shame. He was an intriguing prospect if for no other reason than he is the first guy I can ever remember us getting from the state of Tennessee. Wish him the best.

If only they had an IPF open 24/7, in which to do this. Hopefully, they can squeeze in time between softball practice and field hockey conditioning to play catch.

As far as next year's starters- if Smith doesn't return, I think Morris starts with PTG staying in his change of pace role. Like the idea of Broyld moving into that hybrid role, which it seems like the staff was working towards before all the injuries.

I was just assuming the worse. FWIW in the last chat, when asked, one of the beat writers predicted Hickey gone and Smith back. Imagine if all top 4 backs are back. The junior who would be hardest to replace though is Hickey.

I would like to see what Ben Lewis can do at safety.

Jerome Smith is not a pro. SU backs way better than him didn't make it. He's 240 lbs and how many times does it take one defender to bring him down? It's also astonishing that upon being tackled how often he goes backwards or sideways instead of forward for another 2 or 3 yards.

Hickey could use another year in college but his draft stock will be measured in the workouts and not his actual on field production.

I expect Hickey to test out well and go and Smith to stay.

If Hickey and Smith both stay though, we might get goose egged in the draft this year. Lyn is definitely a late rounder at best at this point.

improvement shown towards the end of the year?

he had 1 decent game at the end and capped it off with a td in the clutch. does that really show anything? he was still the worst starting QB i have personally ever watched. and he sucked in the 2nd to last game.

Just a quick question... and i seriously dont mean this to be snarky - but what would have said if BC didnt give us the ball back after Hunt's INT?

I hope he steps up - but this year was PAINFUL to watch.

Who do you think he starts over?

He and anyone else could start. WR next year seriously better start from scratch. The only thing worse than our QB play was our WR play.

Chicken or the Egg?

Assuming that he has got things in order for real, and is out of the doghouse...

I'm going with Funderburk, West, and Estime. That's a good group. With Cornelius, Broyld, Winfield, and the true frosh coming in, that's a group head and shoulders ahead of what we started this year with.

This is wrong. He had 2 amazing games against week competition, a bunch of decent games as a runner/mediocre passer - and the Pitt game he was improved as a passer. BC game he was fantastic.

He may or may not be the QB next year - but if he beats out everyone and we get an infusion of talent at WR - we'd get at least back to 6 wins.

I think Morris is the guy, PTG/McFarlane share back up duties.

Really interested in seeing Provo and Batten. Might be too soon though.

At WR... I still think some of the frosh play a LOT. Hopefully Broyld gets better. Cornelius and Estime look promising. Not sure about the rest though.
