Roster & Needs As Of April 14...

My point is proof will be in the signings.

If the signings so far with emphasis on Tobiason aren’t enough for you so far as a good start I presume anyone not named Najai Hines won’t be enough either…. Unless I’m reading between the lines wrong.

Sadiq White is going to start. Not sure why anyone would believe otherwise.

I never said he wouldn't start.

Is Sadiq White a muscular, rim running, power forward? Seems more like a 3/4 flex type.

I actually like him and his play, but the teams I saw in the sweet 16 by and large had muscle at the 4 spot.

If he's our solution at the 4 & Folefac... I don't know... Hoping for more...

This is how I see it right now subject to who else we get. We have a lot of 6'5 to 6'7 guys at the 2 and 3 so I don't see how White doesn't start at the 4.

5-Starter/Goodrick
4-White/backup
3-Tobiason/Euro
2-Doty/Anthony
1-Dual/Moesch

But but but. Where’s the splash!

No G League guys! No 8th year guys with 3 kids! Couldn’t even pull any Michigan transfers from their natty team.

The burner and agent troll accounts are telling me this is just a boring lineup of long athletic guys that play hard.

Big question will be who the back up at the 4 is. Folefac or stretch 4… if Folefac I think we add another wing to the mix if a stretch 4 I expect two more bigs who can play the 5.

Unless LSU vintage Shaq is the center this team is going to get manhandled by top 35 teams. It's small. It's almost all slender guards. Would get crushed on the boards every game. Does anyone think White would be playing the 4 at schools like UNC, Louisville, St. Johns, any SEC schools? Hoping for more. Need a legit C and PF.

6-5 200 is not slender for a guard… just saying. Pending what we finish with at C and backup PF we already have way more size and beef at guard than Clemson did last year. Godfrey was there only truly physical presence in their frontcourt too.

St. John’s started Dillon Mitchell at the 4 this year. He’s smaller than White. Louisville started 4 guys 6’6” and under.

I used AI and probably a gallon of water to determine the height / weight of the elite 8 starting big men

Michigan
6'9 240
6'9 250
7'3 240

Illinois
6'9 250
6'6 210
7'1 230

Arizona
6'8 235
6'6 220
7'2 260

Uconn
6'8 225
6'7 215
6'10 265

Purdue
6'9 230
X - 3 guards
7'4 235

Tennessee
6'11 243
6'11 240
6'8 267

Syracuse would be
Folefac - 6'7 245
White - 6'9 195
Goodrick - 6'10 235 or Siby - 7'1 212
We either need more muscle or to use a lineup like Purdue.

Hopefully Siby is the real-deal Holyfield and competent from the get-go (and not a day1 struggle project big)...

Seems like a bit of a gamble... and while I really like Hines, so does everyone else... and I don't think we we're in the running for him, so a BIG with euro experience was likely the route we have to go, given this cycle's portal center bucket and where we are at as a program.

What is your updated prediction now that we have added a project 5 to our already existing (backup?) 5?

Hopefully GMac has a 'splash' 4 in the mix.

Splash 4? Sadiq is starting at the 4. Splashes, hopefully, will be at 1 and 5.

Well this isn’t a project 5. He’s a defensive 5 man with a high ceiling. I think it’s a little harder to project the next move be it Folefac or a stretch 4. This is not some project though at all. I’d love a Freeman type with this kid and Goodrick but need to read the tea leaves. I would have expected a more post offensive euro so this is a bit different than expected.

You don’t have the kind of praise and comments from Givony and the DX guys if he was just a project. I don’t think folks quite understand they aren’t wasting their time to comment on a kid if he is another Pascal Chukwu.

This last seson in the Serbian league:
3.6 points, 3.2 rebounds, 0.5 assists, 0.3 steals and 1.1 blocks in 13 minutes per game.

He was clearly an off-the-bench player at 13 minutes per game and his stats reflected that.

I think there are major questions as to how/if he can play starter minutes here effectively. Here's hoping he can. Hopefully the talent evaluators are nailed-on on this one...

I was skeptical of Kyle too, given his limited use under the leprechaun... and was glad to be wrong about him.

So he’s a bench contributor until proven otherwise as I see it. You add the talent and fit you need then figure out who plays in camp. As it should be.
