Rutgers crowd was far more intimidating than any Duke crowd I've seen in 5 years

Yeah, “yet” is the operative word.

Myles Powell is a Jersey kid. They wouldn’t be the same team without him.
I’ll buy in when they do something and actually out recruit us for somebody. Until then, scoffing at them on the trails is justified.

Well, we rarely recruit Jersey much in recent recruiting cycles. So it might not be an issue.

Syracuse used to have a good handle on hoops recruiting in Jersey. But now that Rutgers has emerged and Seton Hall is a national player (not to mention Villanova), that’s going to be hard to get back.
I don’t agree with these assessments—or that we can’t dominate Jersey again like we did for decades. It’s hopefully a one year blip for Rutgers. Seton Hall was rated near or below us in KenPom last season (they were lucky to get Myles Cale back, which is why they’re pretty good this season). But why would you ever root for lowly Rutgers and horrible wannabe Seton Hall (lol) to be good? Ever. They are not on our level program-wise. Those programs should be terrible for eternity.

I went to the RAC for the first time this year
Why? Are you homeless or something?

Really unique gym and it’s probably a cool environment when it’s popping.
It's a dump. It's small. It's old. And the seats remind me of a middle school cafeteria.

But still screw Rutgers that’s the only positive thing you’ll get out of me
That's more like it. Last time I was at the RAC, Jonny Flynn made Rosario his b!***.
HA HA HA HA!!!!

Lotsa Orange in the house that night.

We can laugh at them...but Seton Hall is a potential Final 4 team.
And a strong one at that.
They've got an All-American in Myles Powell, a solid point guard and a huge front line.
Capable of beating anyone.
I'd like to make a futures bet on them to win it all, at the right odds obviously, but as a NJ resident I can not bet on any NJ college teams while using a NJ bookmaker. That stinks.

Oh, I’d be the last guy on earth to ever root for Rutgers or Seton Hall. But I don’t sense their recent success will be short term. Seton Hall, in fact, has been pretty good for a number of years.

And in that period they have one tourney win.

According to 2 4 7, Rutgers last 3 classes were ranked: 61, 124(1 man class though), and 51. Out of their 8 recruits in that span, only 2 were from NJ. Doesn’t look like they’re much of a factor yet?

Seton Hall: 67, 101, 87. Zero Jersey kids. They’ve been doing it with transfers i think.
Doing it with tampering ;)

10 guys on Rutgers roster are Fr./So. They are very young and should be even better next season. No one should be afraid of Rutgers in regards to recruiting though.

Maybe. Seem like kind of a limited ceiling team. Good defensively, can’t really shoot, bunch of mediocre offensive players. They might plateau like SU did from ‘18 to ‘19.

You will need them to go 1-6, and even then they are probably hanging around on the line on Selection Sunday.

2-5 may lock them in the tourney. All seven of their games could end up being Q1 games. 5 of them will end up clearly Q1, and two border on Q1 (32 and 34 at home... just outside of #30)

That would give them 4 or 5 Q1 wins, 8 Q1+Q2 wins, and a passable 8-11 record against Q1+Q2.

They would also have a NET in the mid to late 30's in this scenario.

The BIG metrics advantage is so huge this year.
No doubt about this. It emphasizes the importance of the ACC/B1G Challenge games. Had the ACC won 8-6 instead of losing by that margin, the metrics might look a whole lot different.

Visit us in Upstate New York. You can place your bet at several casinos up here.

I'm rooting for Rutgers to get in. I am sure they have some good fans amongst them, and they have waited a long time. To me its interesting to see teams that have missed for a long time to finally make it (excluding UConn - would like that streak to continue another 200 years)
Fixed it.

They are almost certain to make the tournament. 8-5 with many quality wins in an extremely strong Big 10

"Extremely strong" = a bunch of mediocre teams beating each other.

I think that the B1G was considered incredibly strong at the beginning of the season, with MSU and OSU being rated in the top 2 early on, but the entire conference has tapered. The strength of the conference is parity, but they completely lack top end teams. Maryland is the best of an otherwise subpar lot. Traditional powers like Michigan, MSU, Purude, Wisconsin, etc. are all struggling.

Michigan has the same record as SU [14-9], and are ranked #24 -- just for basis of comparison. They started out great in OOC [although one of their "big" wins was over a highly ranked UNC team, and we know that they were substantially overrated given how the season has unfolded].

Strong conferences make good teams look mediocre. Every night is a battle in the B10. 12 of 14 teams are kenpom top 50

Or, the vast majority of them are just generally mediocre, with several of them being substantially worse than the lofty ratings they received in the preseason. Either or.

No, the vast majority of them are good. You are seriously claiming the Big 10 is a mediocre conference, this year? 2020?

I do get up there from time to time but don't think I will before mid-March. When will NY allow mobile betting? Crazy that u have to find a casino - I'm sure in some cases a NYS resident would have to drive a ways to find one.

I generally agree with that. It's a very deep league of decent teams, no real great ones. I think Penn State is fairly legit too along with MD.
