Some people need to wipe this off before they post. It was one thing to think at the start of the season that the anemic offense was because we've played tough teams, like Villanova. But at this point in the season, to think there is any reason we should be Duke is ridiculous. Other than Duke playing terribly and us playing lights out.

This logic applies to the Pitt and BC game. WE HAVE NO BUSINESS SAYING "WE CAN WIN THESE GAMES". Might we win them, possibly. But should we act as if we are in the same class as any of the remaining teams? ABSOLUTELY NOT!

There is a fine line between being delusional and being a hardcore fan wanting your team to win. I don't see much evidence of anyone being delusional on the football board (No comment about the bball board ). We all know Syracuse's limitations. Gets frustrating being a fan but the only way I can be is to root for a win...no matter who they play. LGO!

I'm not calling anyone out personally but there are def some borderline delusional people. My biggest issue is discussing our next opponent or opponents as if they are games we should be able to win. We haven't shown anything this year to justify that we are going to be competitive and win any of the last 3 games. Duke is a top 25 team, it doesn't matter if they really aren't that good. Maybe they are a top 40 team instead of a top 25 team. We are one of the worst teams in CFB right now, who cares whether Duke is a legitimate top 25 team or not. They are still a hell of a lot better than us.

Also as a outside point of perspective the line on the game is 3.5. I don't bet but what that means to me is people who make a living off of that aren't confident that we are definitely going to lose either.

I shouldn't have said "not competitive", I don't believe that the players aren't playing their hearts out. Not the intent of my message in any way at all to try to portray that. And my point has absolutely nothing to do with how beat up we are and it's not me bashing our players. I have nothing but respect for how these players have played this season.

My point clearly is being missed. The fact that "rutgersal" is in the title should have helped with people not overreacting to my point. Apparently not.

Duke is clearly better than SU but Vegas thinks it can be close and that's reason enough for me to believe we have a shot. I highly doubt we win all 3, but each game in itself is winnable.

In fact, I will not be shocked if we beat Duke. Of course, I won't be shocked if we lose to them either.

My post was after reading a couple posters, who, regardless of the outcome of our games or how poorly the offense plays, they write posts as if we are still better than all of our remaining opponents. Right now we are not better than any of our remaining opponents and we haven't shown anything this season for anyone to rationally argue that any remaining game is a game we should clearly win. That doesn't mean I think we have no chance of winning, it wouldn't surprise me if we won 2 out of the next 3.

The original thought when I wrote that when I wrote that was from a particular conversation going on in a different thread at that exact moment in time. So I think that's why a lot of my post has been completely misunderstood. And again, the Rutgeral reference should have been a giveaway that my post was not meant about optimistic posts. It was direct towards unrealistic posts written as if we are as good as a top 25 team. Our offense is one of the worst offenses in the country, I just don't get anyone saying we should beat a top 25 team right now. Maybe we will and I won't be surprised if we do but I don't get arguing as if we are at that level this year.

Hopefully this makes sense. So far, nothing I have written has though.

I get that now, lol. It's partially things said at the time and an accumulation of watching one of the worst offenses in college week in and week out and reading posts expecting to win our next game. I want to win, I think we are capable of winning games, but there should be no expectation right now that we will or that we are better than any of our remaining opponents because we've shown nothing this year to show we are better.
