RutgersAl fairy dust

The original thought when I wrote that when I wrote that was from a particular conversation going on in a different thread at that exact moment in time. So I think that's why a lot of my post has been completely misunderstood. And again, the Rutgeral reference should have been a giveaway that my post was not meant about optimistic posts. It was direct towards unrealistic posts written as if we are as good as a top 25 team. Our offense is one of the worst offenses in the country, I just don't get anyone saying we should beat a top 25 team right now. Maybe we will and I won't be surprised if we do but I don't get arguing as if we are at that level this year.

Hopefully this makes sense. So far, nothing I have written has though.

Makes more sense now.

I'm a bit more optimistic than that myself. I have seen both bad and good. I guess for me I like that we have moved the ball pretty well at times. I understand with a freshman QB there are going to be some What moments. Our defense has been pretty solid and if we can keep our offense out there long enough to give the D a breather I think that will pay dividends at the end of the game.

I hope we can keep working on the negatives as well as keep up the positives. The teams we have left I feel are closer to us than FSU and Clemson at this point which to me says fair game for possibilities.

LOL - I wish I could have just written the thread more clearly, or better yet, not at all.

- I think we've done some great things. The defense has been amazing and fun to watch despite the tough schedule. Ish is fun to watch with some of his catches, just wish he was more consistently catching balls each quarter/each game, Moore has been really good when given time and highly underutilized, and West has had a great season.

You're right the offense was and has moved the ball really well in some games. This last game was brutal though in the first half especially and I realize the o-line and I'm not discounting the impact of that. But regardless of the reason, the offense = scoring, is absolutely terrible this year and we've moved the ball many games and haven't scored so it's become a consistent theme. If we can't score TD's, we aren't going to win games and right now we can't score TD's.

Everyone will tell you game changer and I cannot express how fun and crazy and at times frustrating it has been. It is truly awesome. Congratulations!!!!!

Best advise I can give is just do as much as you can for your wife because it can be hard couple months. Lots of chemical and physical changing.

I appreciate your view point and thanks for explaining again. My wife would understand your vantage point of me not getting what was trying to be conveyed. Ha

I shouldn't have said "not competitive", I don't believe that the players aren't playing their hearts out. Not the intent of my message in any way at all to try to portray that. And my point has absolutely nothing to do with how beat up we are and it's not me bashing our players. I have nothing but respect for how these players have played this season.

My point clearly is being missed. The fact that "rutgersal" is in the title should have helped with people not overreacting to my point. Apparently not.

And my reply had nothing to do with effort or how beat up the team is.

I understood your intent and it's not accurate.

NCSt was a 7pt loss with 14 points off of turnovers for NCSt.

Not sure how that equates to non competitive.

If the OL can get heathly and they can generate some kind of run game again, there's no reason why SU can't be "competitive".

Still missing the point, so at this point it's pretty silly for me to attempt to explain it... again.

And I clearly took back the use of the word "competitive". So there is no reason to bring it up again.

I don't remember one person saying the reason we lost was due to our offensive line being hurt ;)
If no one said that then I will. It was simply becuse the offensive line was hurt period. That's the reason SU lost. They couldn't run the ball or protect the qb. They no trouble doing both prior to this game other than Clemson. We had been in the top ten in least sacks allowed If the line had been healthy they would have blownout NC state

I said it as well. :) fully agree

But you're missing the biggest issue. With or without an o-line we can't score. So I don't get how anyone says we lost because of the o-line. You can't win games if you don't score TD's and even with our o-line playing well we don't score TD's. How can anyone say we would have blown them out. Who was going to score TD's for us?

Duke is basically bizarro Syracuse. They are relatively healthy, take excellent care of the football, and have played an extremely favorable schedule. Instead of losing games because of backbreaking turnovers, they won last week because the opposing kicker missed a field goal the length of an extra point

We're still on the plus side of TO margin. Before the last AJ fumble, we were in the top ten in fumbles lost (we didn't have very many at all).

You're right in that they have a very good offense and a mediocre defense. While we have a very good defense and a mediocre to poor offense. If we can suddenly have a good outing on offense we could win...

Steve Ishmael, Prince Tyson Gulley and AJ Long.
