Ryan Cabiles Canned / Robert Harris new Director of S&C

Not sure why, but Ryan Cabiles has been fired from the program.

Great guy , nice guy. Prolly could have a better strength and conditioning guy.
i mean this seems like a situation of personality keeping someone employed

i dont know anythig about this guys chops...but i do know from watching this team throughout the years...that strength and conditioning has continually been a weak area for the team

idgaf if the players love the s&c guy...I care if he gets results...

People need to keep their hands off Fran’s football program. But yes definitely get his sign off on who you do hire.
Maybe ask Fran for a recommendation???

Is there an announcement or post somewhere?

Hanna Barbera?
no way what GIF by Boomerang Official

Have met him a few times, great dude, funny as hell. Players LOVED him. But yes it has probably been time to move on for awhile. That being said I don’t think we move on from him unless we have someone already in mind and lined up to take over
Clearly these guys are the only choice

Houston blew a big second half lead in the finals - I think they need a good S&C coach.
So I guess Duke needs one too after they did the same thing in the semi finals.I personally think the Duke game took a lot of them plus a lot of times this year they would get big leads in game and let the other team back in. This time they couldn't recover from it.

JB always raved about the conditioning the team was in coming into the season. That’s not the same as being physically strong.

This is an excellent point. It's "Strength *and* Conditioning" but the two are often at odds. Marathon runners have extremely good conditioning but I wouldn't ask one to help me carry a fridge. World's strongest man competitors can pull semi trucks but I'd want an AED on hand if they were going to do a mile run.

There's a balance to be had, and yet sadly, I think we had flaws in both departments.

Our guys were neither. Nobody came here and got stronger, faster, more athletic or better conditioned. We didn’t improve in the off seasons.

I was really enthusiastic when we hired the nutritionist, but it didn’t have much benefit we could see doing the same old workout routine.

Guys should be visibly bigger and stronger each year, more flexible and more explosive in their athletic actions. We didn’t make calculated choices about our focus… We just failed at everything, year after year.

Honestly, if they had just found a couple of Instagram feeds and done their free sample workouts every day, the basketball players would have had better results. It was really crazy it was so bad for so long.
