Ryan Norton has been suspended for Saturday's game against Wake Forest

I am normally a hardass about these things but it is really a good use of police time checking students for beer? What am I missing? Was he disorderly?

Conversely, I'm usually a skeptic when it comes to police interactions, but not so much here.

It's not New Orleans. Can't walk down Marshall Street with an open deuce and expect good things to happen.

If you have ever seen him, he looks like a surfer geek; kind of like Robby Benson in One on One, only more so. Out of all the kids on the team, he might be the last one I would expect to hear had been arrested.

What a shame. He really let down the team at a time he was desperately needed. Might not be able to play the rest of the year now after resisting arrest.

I think losing him on kickoffs is a bigger loss than losing him on field goals, though both are big problems, especially on this very offensive challenged team.

He will be back for Maryland.

Don't worry, guys. I just e-mailed my college's soccer coach, because one of our former All-Conference players is a grad student at SU so I told him to tell him to go try out for the team. We're set.

EDIT: I actually did send him a joking e-mail (he's a giant Kentucky basketball fan, and knows I'm a huge Syracuse fan, so we BS about it) asking him to pass the message along. I wish I could say I was completely kidding with the idea, but I'm only half kidding. I mean hell, he was an outstanding soccer player from Texas, so chances are he's played football at some point, too.

I wish this was all a joke. Ha.

In a close game, which everyone is expecting, this can easily be the difference in winning or losing. This one dumb, selfish act could cause the entire team to miss a bowl opportunity. There are no excuses for this kind of stupidity. Norton is the only one to blame here. Don't blame police officers for doing their job.

Dixon kicked in high school, so it's not like we're sending a newbie in there. Good thing Loeb is the holder. Imagine if Dixon was the usual holder and had to move to kicker. We'd be using a new kicker and holder for this game.
Nope - drop kick

Awesome.

Ideal to lose a kicker for a game when we need every point that we can scrounge up.

Daniel LaRusso ran towards the hood, but he was screwed when he had to leap the tall fence. Then, Johnny and the boys were able to catch up and kick his ass.

Its because he ran like Chachi Arcola.

Plus, a beating by Johnny and the boys is infinitely better than a night in the hoosegow and a police record.

Yeah, CIL is better than this. pushing a cop and trying to run away is bush league.

if there isn't a crosseyed mugshot it didn't happen

He was THIS close to freedom! And, in retrospect, that fence was very scalable. Bad job, Daniel.

Charged with resisting arrest and underage possession of alcohol

Norton was charged with resisting arrest and underage possession of alcohol after running from police on Marshall Street last Friday morning, according to documents from the Syracuse City Court.

According to the document, Norton was approached by officers after he was observed with an open 24-ounce can of Bud Light near Acropolis Pizza and, when approached, told officers, "I'm not going anywhere."

After informing Norton that he'd be arrested, the document claims Norton ran from officers and was caught on the 200 block of Waverly Avenue. Court documents say that Norton pushed officers while running in an attempt to avoid arrest, refused to go to the ground after numerous commands and, once tackled by officers, refused to roll onto his stomach of put his hands behind his back.

win or lose...we still booze

Cause and effect of a bye week. Although, maybe not.

Even though he's just a kicker, he's still a Div. 1 athlete and should be able to outrun a couple of donut-eating cops working the party patrol.

After a long hiatus out of the fans doghouse, I guess it's time to add Will Hicks to the list of people being bashed for our problems this season.
