2 minutes is not acceptable for Sadiq. Especially with Freeman playing like that. Unless Betsey is having one of his hot shooting games, he should never have a 16/2 minutes edge over Sadiq. The coach is lost.

Agreed, but I wonder if it’s meaningful to bother thinking about who is retained in any season going forward, especially for teams outside of the top 25. The NIL + Portal thing make it impossible to determine retention, and then with our lame duck staff… there isn’t one player I would have even 50% confidence in having back next year.

His salary begins with a 1 so it’s technically not multiple millions. Over the 3 years yes you’re right. And some of these players haven’t been worth the cost either

I agree that it’s a valuable relationship, just not that it’s one without a limit. Under ideal conditions, there would be a way to diplomatically keep Carmelo’s favor even if the family felt a new destination were appropriate for Kiyan, but these are far from ideal conditions and I have zero confidence in that being managed appropriately. It’s ugly already. I would hate to have Carmelo/Kiyan involved in choosing the next coach, though. One more year of Kiyan isn’t going to have the impact of one year of Carmelo in uniform. We can’t, though get into another ex-SU legend vs SU spat like the fracture with DC1. I really don’t want to think about a scenario where Carmelo pulls his name off the building, but I’m prepared for the worst.

but theres two sides to things...players have so much power now. any malcontents can cause serious issues within a team/lockerroom

we've seen the defensive intensity absolutely nose dive the last 10 games or so...

id say the 2 guys red has benched are 2 of the guys who literally just play the way they want regardless...yeah theyre competing and trying to win...but the defensive side of their games has been weak

idk ...what can a coach even do if hes lost the players?
