Sadiq White RETURNING

Hakim Warrick was Go-Go Gadget, with hyper extending arms, stretching to the rim for improbable dunks.
Terrence Roberts was a more emotional player, better defensively and as a rebounder than Warrick.
Warrick played a lot more minutes, but they were essentially the same rebounder per 40 minutes. Roberts was a tough kid who played hurt for much of his senior year, but I don't remember him being in the same orbit as Warrick.

That is just crazy talk, Whoever is the best player is gonna play the most minutes. Otherwise the ship will sink
I didn’t say otherwise. I think Kyan is better than he played this season. But that post was definitely crazy talk on my part. That I’ll grant you.

I honestly think he can be good, he just needs to get real stronger.

I want him to average at least 2.4 alley oops per home game. That alone will be worth the nil.

JJ tossed a bunch his way this year and they started connecting late in the season. He got God given ability to send that ball home.

Just looked it up, there are even fewer than I thought. After Coleman only three guys have done it - Melo, the immortal Rick Jackson, and Jesse Edwards.

For some reason I thought Mookie Watkins came close his senior year, but he never even led the team in rebounding.
Billy Owens averaged 11.6 as a junior.

It's kind of amazing that when Coleman averaged 12.1 as a senior, Owens still had 8.4 that year. Stevie Thompson got 5.1. How did the other team get any rebounds?

We're talking about Sadiq White. Right now, I would suggest that Terrence Roberts is a better comparable for him than Hakim Warrick. Warrick became a very good offensive player. Roberts never matched that.

I don't see Sadiq White as being a first team All American like Warrick was. But I see him bringing a toughness to this team that the last few have lacked. That aspect of Roberts' game is what I see as most immediately attainable for Sadiq.

All I said was that I saw a lot more Warrick than Roberts when I watched White as a freshman.

Maybe so, but I don't see the offensive skills. Warrick averaged about 20 points a game for two years. I don't see White being that guy.

I'm not sure it makes sense to compare freshman White to junior/senior Warrick. Warrick didn't come in as the guy we saw his last two years, he developed into that. White's freshman numbers are nearly identical to Warrick's.

I've seen 2-3 posts like this in this 12 page thread. Not sure why. Maybe I'm wrong, but I would say 90%+ on this board wanted White back and were conflicted on Donnie (50/50). That said, I don't think our season is lost without him, but he's definitely talent and attitude you want on a GMac team. Just try to be happy dude. Good lord.
I’m happier than you’ll ever know but thanks for the unsolicited advice.

And he got that stupid technical. That’s somehow really important to a bunch of posters in this thread

I think it depends on how you compare them. They had similar levels of athleticism that manifested differently. Warrick had that length and certainly could jump. Roberts could jump too. I think he was a little quicker off the floor and was a quicker athlete as far as lateral movement. Warrick was smoother with more skill. He was the poster child for a 4 year developer. Long rangey (is that how you spell it) athlete as a freshman that added a post game as a sophomore, a little fade away from the post as a junior, and extended his range as senior. Roberts never developed offenssive skills and seemed to be basucally the same guy freshman to senior.

Idk man. Doty is a better all around player than Anthony right now. Would need a big jump from Anthony. I guess if you start Anthony at the 2 and Doty at the 3. But if we bring in Wilkins and Wilkinson. Anthony is not starting. Even a player like Wagner would really push Anthony. Or what if we bring in the Mingo brothers? All these are very possible and all these players are already better than Anthony or at least on par with Anthony. Now you could be right, Anthony could gain 5-10 pounds of muscle this off season. He has full off season in the college program and his dad is obviously Melo…..so a big freshman to Sophmore jump is certainly possible. But he needs biggggg improvements defensively, foot speed and strength. He’s going to be fine offensively but those other parts of his game he needs big improvements. Doty is already better than him in most aspects of his game. But if we bring in some other players that I mentioned….

Don't forget about 3M. I assume he's starting. And I assume Doty is starting.

I'm not worried about traditional positions, I think these two are locks to be in the starting lineup, despite playing the same position [2].

Kiyan actually showed a knack for getting to the hoop. If we surround him with capable shooters and slashers I could see him being a 4-5 assist guy, if he becomes a willing passer. I believe he can shoot better than he showed this year. His deficiency is on the defensive side. Having other capable defenders around him shoot help tremendously.

I look forward to seeing his development take a jump with proper big man coaching (AO). I expect his on-court demeanor to improve as well.

Bingo. This ain't the 80s, there doesn't need to be stark delineations between 2, 3 and 4.

Honestly, the only "positions" necessary these days are a primary ball distributor, primary low post defender, wings and/or shooters.

At any point in time I’d want 3 guys , minimum 2 , comfortable initiating the offense be it on a break or the half court. Obviously your primary ball handler is a pressure release for the others under heavier pressure but overall so long as you have enough shooters and ball handlers on the floor the positions aren’t all that big of a deal 1-3.

He told me that in Vegas. He loved Syracuse except for the snow so far, is what he said. That is all. Nothing less, nothing more. And how do you know he only cares about the bottom line? Some of them care for other things. They didn't ask for this system also that allows for this. So don't blame them. Most people would shop for the best deal. That could include money only, money and playing time, money coaching and playing time, money coaching playing time and a course of study. There is a lot that goes into these decisions.
You earn playing time, you don’t bargain for it!

when not facing a pressing team, i will not be surprised to see doty at the 1 some. he did at siennna. would allow for 2 other wings on the court.
