My sense is we play secondary defense wrong, but they're not "on-screen" so can't see them and so I can't really comment there. But there were a couple things I wanted to ask smart people:
1) It seems to me like our offensive set with two H-Backs who are "just off the line", no set-backs and WRs leaves our QB really vulnerable, but without the 5 pass-catchers that you'd want to have. In other words, the Defense can sense we're vulnerable, but we only have 3 instead of 5 targets, and now we have no back to block a blitz which seemed to happen 30x tonight.
So no blockers, but not 5 legit receivers. Seems like a bad scheme to me?
2) The screen play (never mind the WR bubble screen)...we didn't seem to have an answer, until it seemed to me we resorted to "rolling" our DEs out wide and they wouldn't rush, i.e. our best player #13 just kind of rolled into his guy but didn't attack and we both failed to stop the screens and get pressure as a result.
Where am I wrong here? Did anyone else see this?
Dungey was great, agree we need to be a BIT patient with this crew.
BTW, Ish, Erv and Fredericks need to have the ball on 90% of the plays.
