having a good game. Doesn't seem to play man to man very well at least tonight

Well, he hasn't played M-2-M in about 6 years, so he's probably a little rusty.

He looks heavy. I wish he would have been on Dion and Fab's diet this summer.

Scoop is actually showing a lot of improvement, which has helped us run some potent offense. Scoop's only taken 3 shots so far, and he has wasted very little time and wasted few possessions this game. Melo, Triche, Joseph, and Waiters all have way more misses and used possessions (which is good, that is how our offense ought to function). Credit to Scoop.

He isn't pounding the ball. Instead, Scoop's made made several quick passes within the flow of the offense, simply moving the ball. He doesn't have an official assist yet, but who cares. He has assisted this team's growth on offense: he had to reduce his usage, which is a very difficult thing to do. The sort of solid ball movement and team play we have seen tonight is way more important than points and assists piled up in an inefficient manner.

In most games, some of Scoops shots will fall. He will be well placed on some run outs and fast breaks for assists and points. Scoop will get his counting stats. The only really important question with Scoop, is how many possessions will he waste, and how much time will he waste pounding the ball when we should be moving the ball. IMO, the answers to both of these questions are looking much improved.

Glad to see he is having fun and cheering on MCW and his teammates.

You must not have seen all the turnovers and the terrible defense that I saw. Also JB pulled him several times.

Two turnovers. After what plays did JB pull Scoop? I missed it.

My main point is that is it very rare for Scoop to not be among the top 3 in usage. He is not even top 5 today. That is a good thing, and a big sacrifice, Scoop is making for the team.

Here are the total shots (fga+fta)/per minute stats from tonight:

Waiters: .89 total shots per minute
Melo: .68
S'land: .63
Joseph .61
Triche: .50
MCW: .40
Fair: .28
Jardine .20

Cuse: 2.4 total shots per minute (96 shots in 40 minutes), a fantastic rate

If Jardine stays as low as 5th on this list, we will have a championship level offense to go along with our amazing defense.

Yeah but Scoop did not take himself out as a sacrifice. JB felt he wasn't playing well enough to earn those minutes.

I believe he played about 20 minutes and only took 3 shots. That is a huge improvement. Only Scoop can keep his per-minute usage rate low. I didn't see JB yank him once for a boneheaded play, but I might have missed it: so it appears to be growth by Scoop, not necessarily a short leash.

Poor performance tonight by Scoop, one of the few so it definitely stood out.

The OP talked about his defense not his offense or usage or whatever stat is en vogue these days. The OP was right, Scoop is not a good defensive player, especially M to M. Opposing players drive by him at will.

scoop has been pretty mediocre these first two games. hope he steps it up as the level of competition increases.

mymelomyman said it.. he looks a little pudgy out there. Maybe that's because Dion and Brandon are jacked but he definitely seems off his game a little.

Scoop doesn't necessarily look in shape to me, but i know we are gonna need him. Everyone looks great now against the cupcakes, but we know how it goes when UCONN and Louisville come to town... certain players disappear back into their shells. Like it or not, when push comes to shove, we will go as Scoop goes this year...again.

something isnt connecting with Scoop...two of worst games he has played in a row...he looks sluggish, out of sync and even his defense was poor

But was this after a bad play? I am not saying Scoop played 40 minutes, just wonder whether he made any terrible plays that caused JB to pull him.

Yeah, it was after that dreadful behind the back pass to Joseph (well, not to Joseph - that was the problem) on a 2-on-1 break.

His defense was fine, but he made a couple poor decisions in limited time again. Obviously I'd prefer he play well rather than poorly, but he's the last guy to worry about. And he looks 10 pounds lighter than he did last year.

Yes he got pulled trying to make a fancy behind the back pass to I believe KJ and it went out of bounds...yanked
