D sounds promising but hard not be scared S less about the offense right now. Also interesting to see some names that were mentioned (Pierre) and some that were not (the wrs, our R frosh qb etc).

Dline could be a real strength this year but that oline, yikes.

hopefully the 10 sacks is more our dl being really good vs ol being dreadful :)

I don't care what Ncaa rules it may violate; go out and "steal" some B1G or Pac12 OL that may be grad transfer eligible. That Ucla lineman going to Baylor would've been perfect...

Yikes. 10 sacks is very scary to read. Really hard to imagine the OL getting worse. If we have a similar line to last year in terms of sacks allowed its probably time to move on from Cav.
I agree. If the oline does not improve Cav has to go. We should have depth by now. There is an issue with so many OL continuing to be injured. Way disproportionate to other position groups.

All I've read on here repeatedly since our last game is that the Oline was fixed. Let's put that propaganda to rest. 10 sacks. I hope all the praise for Sidibe is closer to reality. But I wouldn't bet my life on it.

It will continue to be a work in progress. Just can’t get caught up on the final few games last year as some corner change for the line because it wasn’t. Even if we had Bleich there would be questions on the line. There are good pieces to work with for sure but with players in/out, newer offense with perhaps new line calls, non traditional summer/preseason impacting reps it will likely take a little time. 3 step drops...roll outs...keeping Elmore in as a blocker...run the rock...all helps.

Or the recruiting of the OL has been terrible, missing on several signees. Over 50% of the signees have never played a down because they weren’t good enough for this level. That’s the issue.

Yeah to many people went by last sequence of games last year. Syracuse fan base loves to turn the corner before the team actually turns the corner.

That is on Cav. He is the OL coach. He needs to be the one to convince the recruits to come play for him.

Guys we had some unfortunate injuries that effects our depth on the line. This is what you are going to get when 1st and 2nd units are missing guys. We are banged up there so scrimmage stats is not a indication of how the unit will be this year. We might not be full strength to start the season but i dont think we should panic. We will be fine.

There was a post awhile back about most anticipated recruits; he didn't make my top5, but would've been a honorable mention, the guard out of NYC Q White. What's the deal with the only 4 star OL recruit on our roster? I know, I know, he's only been on campus for 3 years, it takes time for OLs...

First things first, that picture of Iffys pic over JaVante Williams is big time. Iffy is huge, first glance I thought it was Trill. He was a string bean when he first suited up.

where is David Sumner ?

sacks need to be taken with a grain of salt. For starters the defense is usually miles ahead of the offense and they know the O. 2nd it’s always 1s against 2s and lastly it’s not even two hand touch on the Qb, a sack is just being near the QB. That said, while concerning I can’t draw any conclusions.

Who got the sacks:

Redshirt senior Josh Black and freshman Leon Lowery paced the unit with two sacks apiece. Curtis Harper, McKinley Williams, Marlowe Wax, Kingsley Jonathan, Cody Roscoe and Zach Morton also logged quarterback takedowns.

Lowery is interesting. Was he going against 1s or the scout team?

Wax is a freshman MLB.

Good to see Roscoe and Morton getting in the mix. Morton looked really big in a video. Maybe he’s a surprise in D this season.

The defense dominated during preseason last year and was supposed to be the strength of the team and we saw how that turned out. They couldn’t stop anyone.
