At this point, I think the AD has to consider doing it…get the blessing of all living wearers of #44 (only one would be in doubt of supporting it).

Next most important is the timing of it. I think if we beat FSU, the home game against Wake might be the best time. Especially if Tucker has another great game.

Team would be 4-1, and it would create a huge Heisman buzz. Waiting later would risk doing it coming off a loss…and the decision losing its impact.

But if we lose to FSU, you have to wait, unless Tucker goes crazy in a loss.

One potential downside is giving him the number, and then have him hit the portal for next year….that would be….deflating and embarrassing.

Is there a chance this could happen or PTSD from never being able to have nice things?

Yes? <shrug emoji>

(ok, it's the latter. Sean seems like such a quality young man, I can't imagine the former)

Yeah, I probably should've phrased it better as there's "always a chance" (insert Lloyd Christmas gif)

Babers idea to have the former players who have worn 44 to vote on it is ... a bad idea IMO. It's a number that the university completely screwed up in it's handling. Do you need Jim Brown's blessing to give it to a player (Tucker or otherwise) ? No.

Just give it to Tucker. The longer you wait to bring it out of retirement, the worse it gets for the player wearing it. From everything we've seen from Sean the person, he is right for it.

I think the idea of former players who wore it being part of the decision making process ADDS to its importance….living wearers and current AD or some very small committee. Not only do you wear it, you choose who will. You only get to sit on the committee if Syracuse is your last collegiate team.

To the point though, if JB says no, it stays in the rafters? Then the AD is hamstrung because a former player doesn't want it to be worn, even though it was for many years by many players who didn't live up to JB/ED/FL?

I know what you mean, a committee adds to the lore of 44, but I just don't think something like this should be left up to a better decision making process

Respectfully, I do not see where anyone offer Jim Brown a veto, just a voice, one vote if you prefer. His opinion is important, even if he is outvoted. Just my take, not worth an internet brawl.

Oh no I get that too. No internet brawl here! Jake would whoop me and I want none of that.

At the end of the day I just want to see it come back and there's really no perfect time/player to do it, however I think this kid is the one who can carry that load, and then a larger conversation can happen when he's graduated/NFL

G lad to see Sean is producing.
I n fact he’s producing at a high level,
V ery high indeed.
E ven RG3 has him in his top 5

H eisman watch. That is very
I mpressive. He is playing like a
M an amongst boys. His rushing

# s have been tops in the country.
4 games in you have to feel good.
4 what it’s worth, i think all this continues!
I don't know about bestowing the vaunted and legendary, nay, mythical number 44 on this young man, but in the name of Opera Man Poliquin I dare say this young man is indeed our latest and currently most Whiz-Bang player to stride the artificial blades of grass so eerily reminiscent in their green splendor of the fields of the Sound of Music.

No worries. I want it back too, but I’m sure there are hidden dynamics that the AD has to sift through. I just like the idea of former wearers to be part of the process…kinda like Heisman winners.

You're right. For sure there's a LOT of parties to appropriately please/involve.

Here's to getting it done

I think you let Tucker have a great year this season and then set the stage in the offseason announcing in July he's wearing 44. All the preseason articles/love will flow in.

So, risking $10 to win $450 = net of $440.
