Meanwhile, this is an interesting analysis that compares the basketball budgets of tourney teams

Duke First, Florida Last Among No. 1 Seeds in Basketball Spending

I believe SU's budget is around $10 million.

Now, this doesn't include NIL, which is "off the books". But I'll continue to push back on the idea that SU is doomed to irrelevancy. We have the money to compete in men's basketball in today's landscape.

It's gotta be higher than $10M, no?

Supposedly the budget for the entire AD was $94M last year. Not sure how anything breaks down, including with the Dome operating factor, but I'd have to guess MBB is more than 10% of the entire AD budget.

If Vandy, Marquette, Creighton and Baylor are $13M+, we've gotta be in that neighborhood. Unless JB's contract was so, so, so, so far below his peers in that last season...

I mean there’s nothing that can change it but it’s ridiculous UNC is in.

The committee chair should have been drilled a lot more about UNC over WVU.

He can't really say anything since he supposedly recused himself from any conversation involving UNC. Bubba can plead ignorance but it's the vice chair who should be grilled as he supposedly led the conversations in Bubba's absence.

Yes that's what I meant. Needed way more direct questions about it.

I just heard on a podcast discussing yesterday's selection show that the UNC AD had a bonus = to 1 month salary if UNC made tournament in his contract.
Yep and I read it too. That's ridiculous but these blue bloods will do anything to ensure their school is taken care of.

To be honest I won't watch 1 second of the SEC and B1G invitational, but I will watch the women's tournament.

Eh, I think they deserve it. The only reason they are in Lunardi's complaint list is because the ACC overall is not well rated by the computer. UNC has outperformed their seed for several seasons. They and the ACC always do well in the tournament. That should count for something.

If you let in Texas with a 6-12 conference record just because they play a lot of Q1 teams, you have to take a good look at UNC.

UNC went 13-7 in conference, and if you combine Q1 and Q2 wins (since Texas had way more opportunities), then they come out about the same against roughly top 120 competition.

I think women's soccer is excellent, but I still notice the skill discrepancy too much to really enjoy women's college basketball. I was enjoying the WNBA, but the way those women beat up on Caitlin Clark kind of turned me off quickly. The NBA got rid of that garbage 25 years ago.

There is no place in professional sports for trying to injure someone. That's not intimidation. That's how these people are making their living. Do you want someone to mess you up on purpose and end your career?

I didnt say anything about Texas. West Virginia deserved it over both of them.

I agree with everything except the part about past tournament performance.
