Seton Hall had to hire Whitehead's coach Tiny Morton

He hasn't coached since.

Weaver wasn't a package hire (the timeline doesn't even match up), but he sure wasn't brought on for his coaching abilities.

Right. He was brought on for his ability to evaluate talent and his ability to recruit and connect with the younger kids. Fine was taken off the road back then. Weaver never wanted to be a coach. He wanted to be a scout in the NBA, and he was a damn good one.

sorry if I missed this but does this mean seton halls backcourt will be Whitehead and Aquille Carr?
Is Carr still elgible after the assualt, attempted murder whatever it was?

Pretty sure Carr is over seas.

i think it's a rule that whenever someone commits elsewhere there needs to be a thread saying the team that ghot him cheated

yeah your right, just found this on youtube.

Wow, that young man is fast! I remember him. We had a look for a split second, good thing as he had some troubles.
But, you have to love that quickness.

I thought this was against the rules. Didn't the pass a rule when Pitino did this while recruiting Teague? Or is it that you can't officially do it until the kid commits?

I also remember when at Memphis Coach Cal hired Wagner's dad so he could land him.

This all sounds right.

Wasn't this after the 2001 season? Bernie and Louis out; Hop and Weaver in. It seemed like an unorthodox (for Boeheim) move at the time; it wasn't as unseemly as these other schools and their actual package deals, of course. And it paid off well for us.

Also, I think USC did this with Rudy Hackett and his son a few years ago.

Good for Seton Hall. They wanted to become a player and they made some nice moves. Guess what were now talking about Seton freaking Hall. I posted this in another thread, but Morton is more then just Whitehead's coach, he is a respected, well connected NYC coach. Obviously Seton Hall is looking to make a splash recruiting NYC kids with the hire of Morton, and before that Oliver Antigua, who delivered them Angel Delgado. These guys have connections to the area they want to recruit. Why wouldn't he do it?
Morton will most likely be at SH for a year or 2 and then back to a high school job. If he could get a job on merit it would have happened. It's certainly good to know that the NYC board of ed doesn't have a problem with a teacher pimping their students out for a little cash.
