100%. Losing sucks.Kids want to win. It’s that simple. Look at how frustrated Judah is every game right now even though he’s balling. Promise you he’s not having fun and others are paying attention.
“Top prospects” Adams wasn’t even ranked until a couple months ago, and still isn’t ranked by anyone other than 247. Beyond that, it’s not like Syracuse is losing them to the little sisters of the poor, when Kansas, Duke and UNC come calling you don’t turn them down. There are plenty of players who Syracuse has missed on to complain about but this is certainly not one.It wouldn't be year in Syracuse basketball recruiting if we didn't lose out on our top prospects after being in "good shape" with them at some point. We cant even pay them to come here lol. Just another barometer of where the program is these days. Lather, rinse, repeat. I wonder if the coaches will be "shocked" on missing out again, for the 10th year in a row lol
Marcus is taking an OV to UCLA this weekend instead of taking an unofficial to SU, yes.So to confirm his parents DID cancel their unpaid visit, right?
others teams have winning records, rankings and young coaches but we have a healthy dose of heart and spirit. Sometimes that is all you needWhen things start happening unexpectedly with a recruit it usually ends bad for Syracuse. Outside of $$$ Syracuse has very little going for it besides tons of playing time on a bad/young team.
So now you think it’ll be tough for us to win out?I do agree that it seems Kansas has momentum, although maybe that's just because Marcus' most recent visit was to the Jayhawks. And UCLA is the hometown team for him, and his AAU coach said he's likely to take an OV to the Bruins this weekend, but as of now, it's not set in stone. Will be tough for SU to win out, absolutely.
Program Narrative is One of the keys to recruiting. JB lost the narrative by hanging on too long and then lackadaisical program and roster management. But sometimes that can be overcome. See Judah Mintz. The negativity around the program can’t be helping with recruiting. The narrative is a lot different for Kansas and UCLA. They might both end up being number one seeds in the tournament.
...and even then we beat out DEPAUL. Not exactly Kansas and UCLAProgram Narrative is One of the keys to recruiting. JB lost it by hanging on too long. But sometimes that can be overcome. See Judah Mintz.
"Top prospects" references the prospects that we pursued heavily during the recruiting process not necessarily where the prospect was ranked. We have been pursuing him with great interest this cycle and have been reportedly in great shape with Adam's for a while. We will see if he goes elsewhere, its not over yet. The point of the post is to point out the pattern of losing out on our "first choices" in these cycles over recent years. It has become a reoccurring and all to predictable theme recently.“Top prospects” Adams wasn’t even ranked until a couple months ago, and still isn’t ranked by anyone other than 247. We were never the best program.Well, I was referring to the 08-14 time span or whatever when we were arguably the best program for a few years
Well, I figured his top three would be Syracuse, Kansas and UCLA, but he delayed that announcement. I'm not surprised he is taking an OV to UCLA this weekend rather than an unofficial to SU. I feel like momentum is definitely trending in a not-so-great direction for SU, but you never know with this recruiting stuff. I'll keep talking to sources to see what the deal is. In particular, I'm curious why he delayed his top three list today. So now you think it’ll be tough for us to win out?
