So silly and outdated. It’s that type of thinking that continuously leaves SU behind other schools in facilities, NIL, etc.but playing for Syracuse should be enough.
How about leaving in the context? It was with regard to Carlos. For a player like him, playing like Syracuse should be enough. Do you disagree with that?So silly and outdated. It’s that type of thinking that continuously leaves SU behind other schools in facilities, NIL, etc.
Lol the context changes nothing, I disagree with that. How about leaving in the context? It was with regard to Carlos. For a player like him, playing like Syracuse should be enough. Do you disagree with that?
What are you talking about, the context is everything here. I was talking about a specific player not in general. I have no issue with players getting paid, but if there is limited funds to go around, I would prefer that the more valuable players get the great majority and some get none.Lol the context changes nothing, I disagree with that.
Hindsight is 20/20, and these kids should still be getting paid for the revenue/marketing they bring to the university. No one is saying he should be getting $1m a year but he should be getting something.
"Some get none" is not something that works in the real world. If everyone got a raise at your job except for you, are you going to work harder over that next year? You'd probably look for a new job. What are you talking about, the context is everything here. I was talking about a specific player not in general. The base is a free education. There isn't anything wrong with that. Carlos should never have been anything more than a backup PG. With limited NIL, I wouldn't pay Carlos anything. He is taking a step up coming to Syracuse, there is his raise."Some get none" is not something that works in the real world. Once again, hindsight is 20/20.
...If we paid Carlos nothing...he would not have come here in the first place. The base is a free education. There isn't anything wrong with that. Carlos should never have been anything more than a backup PG. With limited NIL, I wouldn't pay Carlos anything. He is taking a step up coming to Syracuse, there is his raise.
Edit: I'm not following the "hindsight is 20/20" reference. You mean because Carlos has proven to be a subpar ACC PG? He was always that, I didn't expect anything more from him.
"Free education" is not the base. Completely ridiculous. The base is a free education. There isn't anything wrong with that. Carlos should never have been anything more than a backup PG. With limited NIL, I wouldn't pay Carlos anything. He is taking a step up coming to Syracuse, there is his raise.

Are you saying the 13th or 15th player on a team deserves anything beyond a free education? And no, I am not saying that is what Carlos is, but honestly, that's what he would be if we had a decent roster. I would have said it before the season started."Free education" is not the base. Completely ridiculous.
And yes, I don't think anyone was saying to give Carlos ACC starting PG money, but he deserves something. Saying now after his start to the season that he deserves no money whatsoever is laughable.
"Carlos, we want to have you aboard, but since a roster that is up to our standards would have you as more like the 13th or 15th guy we are thinking of paying you as much as we would pay a guy that far down the bench, which is nothing, even though you will be more like our 6th man at worst next season. I understand that there are hundreds of other schools that would pay you some money, but- he-... hello?...Joquan?"Are you saying the 13th or 15th player on a team deserves anything beyond a free education? Yes, I'm saying any player that is on the roster, that has to sacrifice time and their body throughout the year for the team deserves more than just a "free education". You know the walk-ons get stipends too, right? Are you saying the 13th or 15th player on a team deserves anything beyond a free education? Keep on arguing. This is how I feel, it's valid. I am glad that you find it laughable, because I didn't think you laughed. I still like most of your posts and you as a poster, I just choose not to continue to argue about stupid things.Yes, I'm saying any player that is on the roster, that has to sacrifice time and their body throughout the year for the team deserves more than just a "free education". ...anymoreAnd yet...
Absolutely disagree. He should be paid what the market said he was worth. Also, NIL is not a performance based. It can’t be.How about leaving in the context? It was with regard to Carlos. For a player like him, playing like Syracuse should be enough. Do you disagree with that?
So, you are saying that bench time players that don't ever sniff the court get paid? I think they know they are not as good as the player who is getting paid because he's a great player and they realize in order to get paid they have to work harder to get money. You get what you give in the real world too."Some get none" is not something that works in the real world. In the real world even if you're only contributing a little bit, you're still getting paid a salary. So, you are saying that bench time players that don't ever sniff the court get paid? unpaid interns to fill out the bench! In the real world even if you're only contributing a little bit, you're still getting paid a salary.
I don't understand why everyone shouldn't get paid. They practice the same as the stars. They miss classes and have to travel and deal with a non-stop schedule.
I'm sure you've been on teams, you think some people don't deserve anything if they're not contributing in games?
Pull yourselves up by your bootstraps Bill!
What does this have to do with Carlos’s paycheck?BIg win for IMG over La Luminier, Sadiq with a good game
Every scholarship men‘s basketball player at Syracuse receives some kind of NIL payment through contracts with a collective. I would think it is the same at every P5 program. For some it’s pure NIL at a fair market rate for public appearances, work in the community, marketing opportunities, etc. For others it is really pay for play. So, you are saying that bench time players that don't ever sniff the court get paid?
