Gotta be able to close in this situation. First real test and if we can’t close on what would be a bigger get then confidence comes way down for me.

I’d imagine the visit and the intent here is the offer is to get a commitment and put aside the NBA given the compensation is better here.

I don't know how quickly the NBA's Undergraduate Advisory Committee provides feedback. I think the deadline for requesting feedback this year is 4/26. Maybe they provide feedback sooner for players who apply early?

Makes sense. Fits the profile. I didn't realize he led his team in rebounding until just now.

Tobiason is almost certainly not staying in the draft. Probably just trying to get some feedback/extra workouts in. Would be surprised if he's invited to the NBA combine.

I'm sure they're aware; even just some cursory internet research would show that nobody has him on the draft radar right now. Completely different from guys like Momcilovic or Mullins who are probably legitimately tempted to go pro.

Yeah I went around a few sites just to see if his name was on lists and at this point in time he is showing not ranked. So I think it's fair to think he is likely to make more money staying in college at this juncture.

There's like a 1000 guys in the portal. Shopping in the bargain bin/dumpster diving is going to be an option for putting a team around the core.

Not sure I agree with this take. Many lower level teams used to make runs in the tournament with a balanced team that played good D and O. Now with nil it is less but the reality is if only the biggest spenders are going to the championship we are unfortunately probably out. SU has money but not to compete every year with some of these schools that are will to throw money around.

I certainly like the look of his shot. The highlights say Future Pro.

But, is no one else finding it odd that we would be bringing in yet another player to take minutes from Kiyan? I mean, I want players better than Kiyan. But how does Melo/The Money reconcile this? And, did Melo actually put a money package together as was discussed a month or two ago? I haven’t seen mention of that since.

Doty, Kiyan, MMM, and this guy… is it ideal to slide Doty to the 3? Make Mmm, good ‘bake’ for a season, and get Kiyan all the minutes he expects? This guy is going to want to start and play 32mpg.

I think the majority of the time, two of those four players are on the court, and possibly some lineups with 3 of them out there. Nice to have a more versatile lineup where you can have big guards who are switchable defensively.

They are still definitely looking at two guards(Tobiason, Mayes) and point guards(Tillery). Seems like they want a wing/big who can shoot/score it as well(like Bujan) and a lengthy forward who can defend(Colonel). And obviously a starting Center.

I get that but in trying to assess it objectively who in the portal right now would make that case? I’m not at all aiming to be argumentative here I’m just trying to frame it up.

As in Hines is a good player with a lot to offer but does he meet that mark? Not sure it’s a clear yes given he has some obvious issues to work out. At Guard Wilkens may or may not equate to meeting that mark. Wilkinson at first glance is a maybe until you look a little deeper. I’m not seeing much outside of Bidunga, Wright, Haggerty, Momcilovic or Harris that truly hit that mark.. maybe Graves too. The rest are more expensive but stars ? Debate worthy that they instantly make the rest of your team look better.

It’s reported that Bidunga and Shelstad cost Louisville 9 million. That’s madness and could truly tank them because Shelstad isn’t much to write home about.

Bidunga is not a massive upgrade over Fru. He is very good but not sure what they have around him if Brown is leaving ( as of yet). Even 7-8 mil for two players puts a 13 million dollar budget in a tough spot..

I do think there is a good chance M3 makes this roster better. We need to see it but at 6-6 and a 3 level high efficiency scorer you immediately open up the offense for others like a Tobiason for instance. Just like an elite on ball defender puts a lot of strain on an opponent whose best player stands at guard. I just think there are candidates so far that can elevate a roster because they do certain things extremely well.

We have to get some of these other guys and a very good 5 too of course so I could be wrong here and that’s fair as that happens a lot lol
