I think a kid might find value in being coached by a great player, particularly one that played with such a high basketball IQ. I think that a kid might find that translatable and that it might benefit him. At the very least, he is a former NBA player and college legend, I don't know for sure, but if nothing else, that opens a kid's eyes.I don't think it is that bizarre. What is being talked about is how important it would be for a kid to be coached by a guy who was a great player a long time ago (at another program, btw). If a player wants to follow in Danny Manning's footsteps, he's more likely to go to Kansas than WFU. I guess the equivalent would be if Syracuse Football hired Doug Flutie as HC. Would that draw in recruits? I suspect not. Could be wrong though.
