It IS at the discretion of each university to disperse the $20.5MM to whichever of ALL the sports they wish. And, I am not arguing with you, all of this just helps to point out what a jumbled mess all of this is. And, for me, it shows what an incredibly terrible job the NCAA has done at staying in front of all of this.

I can tell you with certainty that the revenue share hit, combined with loss of revenue from poor attendance for both football and BB, has been a major wake up call for the university. They are trying to offset some of that loss after the fact. BB has his work cut out for him. Fortunately, fund raising and innovative problem solving is his wheelhouse. Game days are going to look different next season.

One of my friends was with Doty's father tonight. I honestly don't know what it entails. But, I love how the Syracuse community is coming together.

I thought the key part of his statement was "recruit five guys from high school or the portal better than any of them."

If Doty is our fifth best starter, we might be ok. If he's our sixth man, we'll probably be pretty good. If Doty is at the back end of our rotation getting the ninth most minutes, we will probably be great.

If Doty is one of our best players, we're Siena, but playing in the ACC.

But who knows, maybe he takes a leap. Nobody expected Dalton Knecht to transfer to Tennessee and play his way into the lottery when he transferred out of a mid major. Johni Broome either.

But there are several hundred mid major stars who go to a major college and become benchwarmers for every guy who becomes an All American lottery pick.

I asked myself that when watching the Duke game.

I tend to think, yes. JJ was afraid to shoot a jump shot for the last month of the season. It was uncanny how 1 dimensional he became.

This - players have been getting paid forever. It's just more out in the open now and everyone can do it without fear of uneven NCAA discipline.

Also everyone needs to remember - the NCAA worked for the member schools. The schools created this mess and loved the system when they were getting all the money - now that they have to share it the sky is falling.

Yeah I just don't understand how that is not the standard for every player. Like what is going through their brain? I have never played on a school or AAU type of basketball team in my life. But in any pickup basketball game i played, If a shot went up, i immediately would try to beat my man for position boxing out. It doesn't matter weather that is on the offensive or the defensive end. Now I know there are responsibilities for player to make sure they get back on D and not allow easy transition buckets, and i'm not sure who or how that exactly gets determined. But the number of times a shot goes up and the SU player is not moving back to get on defense nor are they fighting for rebound position is astounding. They instead just watch the shot go up and stand there boxed out...... is frustrating as heck!. Its just awareness and effort. I feel like SU players have been doing that far too often, over a long period of time now. Watching Doty will be a welcome change. I hope others learn from him.

And I know darn well a player who rebounds like this is likely to also give great effort on defense and will be moving on the offensive end, making cuts and setting screens. Just playing great team basketball.

Anyone who hasn't seen Doty play is in for a treat. I don't expect his motor to be any less effective in the ACC.
