Class of 2026 SG Jordan Smith Jr. (VA) Offered [Announcing 2/13]

Of course, biggest bag. Said he wanted to play at the highest level. Then go to Duke. Arkansas is no way playing at the highest level. If not in the SEC and Pay Pal , 7 losses keeps you out of the top 25.
Well, maybe, maybe not. I don't know what Smith's NIL offers are. Do you? Cal gets guys to the pros all the time. Duke has a commitment from another 2026 5-star guard.

" Cal gets guys to the pros" . Biggest bunch of bull out there. In this day and age, with the way basketball or any sport is covered, the guys Pay Pal gets, would go to the pros if they played for Siena. Always thought that was hilarious. And of course I have no idea what this kids NIL deals are. Honestly, if this kid went to Cornell , do you think he doesn't make the pros? Mashburn, AD, do they not make the pros without Pay Pal? Give me a break. Only made the comment because the kid said he wanted to play at the highest level. Arkansas is not that.

Arkansas is second in the SEC and ranked in the top 25. The SEC is an excellent basketball league these days. Of course, if Jordan went somewhere else, he would still be a pro. What's your point? This is a silly thread, buddy.

Highest level is fluid every year. There was fair span of time where Purdue wasnt considered the "highest level" i would argue that today it 100% is. They don't sit in the traditional blue blood tier but they compete year in and year out for top 4 seed lines. Arkansas with Cal can certainly get to that level as well in today's NIL heavy world, they have certainly performed up to that level this year.

I used to have a similar mindset, but I now think this kind of statement bolded is way too generalized. Might apply to the absolute top 1-3 kids in the country, maybe.

Exhibit A: Donnie Freeman. If we went elsewhere and was excelling, a similar statement would be made. Something like, “Of course he’s doing well. He was a #6 ranked recruit, McDs AA, doesn’t matter where he went. If he came to ‘Cuse, he’d still be a pro.”

Well, he did come to ‘Cuse and isn’t exactly a slam dunk pro at the moment. What’s the first thing people are going to point to as to why he isn’t? The coaching.

At the very least, have to give Cal credit the professional prospects of his top recruits weren’t screwed up by him, but I suspect he should be credited with more than that.
