My hunch is Duke and Georgetown are our biggest threats. This is just based on relationships he has with players and coaches.

Historically, the top recruits with a choice of Duke, Kentucky, Kansas and Arkansas with SU in the mix, have always chosen one of the others but the latter. So while I follow the guys we are recruiting, for this cycle, I have little hope of us landing Smith, Rippey, Mingo, or Constanza. If it happens I will be overjoyed like when we got Freeman. But our chances just aren’t good with diaper dandies.

I totally agree with you. Although, I do think SU has a shot with Rippey and Smith. A shot. Off topic for this thread, but I caught up with Constanza's dad today. He says Alex is focused on his upcoming season at Spire, but Syracuse is still very much on his radar. I don't know what's going on re: Mingo. Not sure SU is a player there.

For If you read anything that’s related to Duke, they all think he’s a lock for Duke. They also have Duke colored glasses on too.

If having a shot is having no chance of Smith coming here then yes we have a shot. Straughn can only do so much

Hey, if you think Syracuse has no chance of landing Smith, that's your right. I respectfully disagree, although I do think Duke will be tough to beat out.

I hear ya. To be fair, the analysts I've spoken with, and read articles from, aren't in any way suggesting Smith to Duke is a lock. They just think Duke is the favorite at this point. No formal crystal balls have been forecast.

My friend - if you think Jordan isn't coming to Syracuse, all good. I never said he was. But I've had actual analysts who follow his recruitment tell me directly that SU is in the mix. If you disagree or don't believe me, as I said, all good. :)

We are a program that can be "in the mix" for top talent. You have to admit that when we have been "in the mix" with the top tier programs our track record isn't good. When we have landed to 5 star, it's generally because there's a unique factor SU has
that separates them.

Oh, absolutely. And I'm not saying Syracuse is going to land Jordan. However, I also think Syracuse has a shot. I wouldn't underestimate how close Smith is with Coach Straughn. Just like Donnie was/is.

No one can say SU hasn’t busted their butt recruiting Smith. They have traveled all over the world following this kid. They must think they have a chance. Relationships mean everything. With Donnie and JJ probably not back next year, they should have a healthy NIL package available for Smith and Rippey. Red has to get the team off to a good start and beat at least one of Houston, Kansas or Tennessee. They need to get Smith back on campus to have a chance.

We've had Mickey Dee's the last 2 seasons. That hasn't happened in years.

Curious how Duke is going to give large nil without outside money. Their qb is said to making 4m per year. If football takes a big chunk limits amount to bb without outside money. Legit endorsements may help but not everyone is getting Flagg money.
