By the way, I could not disagree with you more on the 2-3 year rule. EJ Dowdell went to SU to play FB, left school early to try a music career. But, if he wanted to try FB, he couldn't do it. Any student and any student athlete, other than basketball and football players,(the 2 sports dominated by and large by economically disadvantaged African American males), can go out and seek their fortunes in their chosen professions at any time. Why shouldn't these guys be able to to the same? Just to keep the fat, rich white guy fans happy?
Now, if you say hey, you have 2 choices: 1- go pro out of high school or 2- sign to play in college, but if you do that you can't go pro for 3 years, then I am good with that, because then at least there is a choice.

I see your point but I guess I am more practical than rationale. My problem with kids leaving college early, or just after one year, is a lot times in the NBA or NFL these player's careers will most likely be very short is almost all cases. I think these athletes are being taken advantage of by huge money interests. After their NBA or NFL career is over they have nothing. These guys do not know how to manage their money and they do not have any degree to find a good job. You are right about why should anyone be limited. I just think these guys are making short term decisions without any idea or wisdom about the long term implications.

Here's a case were I would not want to have a law or strictly impose my will over someone yet at the same time I would like to see these athletes long term interests protected. The solution may not require a law but just some cultural guidance on the issue. Maybe the NCAA should make a better effort getting providing statistical information to athletes before they make their decision. I certainly would not advocate a STRONG government solution like forced vaginal ultrasounds. btw, I just wanted to say "forced vaginal ultrasounds" because how many posts on syracusefan.com do you see that phrase!

He would compliment Joseph nicely and should be able to see time at the 3. A lot of people worried about Buss playing in the future - it would be great for Buss to become a bulldog on the floor and get more minutes. I believe he's already shown his value this season just by guarding Cooney in practive every day with those freakishly long arms.

Ha, I was thinking the same thing yesterday.

I was a bit young to have a real clear memory of Raf. I was early-teens and one doesn't have an understanding of the game at that point. From what I've seen, Richardson seems much more athletic than Raf and has a better handle whereas Raf seemed to have more of an inside game, getting boards, etc, to go along with that great outside shot. However, I could be way off on my recollection...

That said, Raf, with a 3 point line, might be our all time scoring leader and I remember him hanging on the NBA every year. He probably had a 10 year career and never seemed to miss. So, if you two see Raf, then I'd sign up for that in a min. He might be one of the most underrated players of all-time.

I asked my source to assess MR's game cuz he's seen him play a lot. He said "big time D-1 jumper, lengthier than his 6-5 frame and a solid defender. His ball handling needs some work but MR says that's his main focus right now." This will be a big time get for the Orange.
