Class of 2022 SG Roddy Gayle (NY / Wasatch)

It doesn’t help though that JB has a history of not playing freshman as much as they would on other teams

Recruiting is a two-way street -- the player has to be comfortable both with the program and their prospects to see the floor.

If our coaches didn't make Gayle feel like there was a path to PT, then shame on us. That's not the right approach.

This is the kid that in the old Big East, we would have lost to Uconn, and he goes on to NBA Hall of Fame career ala Rip Hamilton.
Give him any guarantee he wants man; stop recruiting other sgs, starting spot, 40mins/game, whatever... Get this kid please!

GMac, Devo, Flynn, Ennis, CMac, Malachi, Lydon, Battle, Oshae, JGIII would like a word with you.
Yeah JG3 was outside of the top 200 per 247 and played 40 mpg last season. If you're better than those around you, you'll play. If Gayle doesn't see that path here its because it looks, right now at least, like we'll have a loaded backcourt his freshman year.

I'd imagine that: Mali, Lydon, Battle, OSB, Buddy, JGIII, etc would all beg to differ with this.

We have the #1 guard in the country committed to us in the same class. Also, we will have a 3 year starter back. Potentially another 3+ year starter. A junior Kadary. That is four guys likely ahead of him. That is a full guard rotation. A lot can happen between now and then, but that is what any guard recruit is looking at. You can laugh and say that nobody is going to be scared of JG3 or even Kadary, but it is hard to unseat a senior who has started since his freshman year. And, Kadary is getting glowing reports and he will be a junior with tons of experience. We all like Roddy as a prospect, but there is no need to get all desperate.

Kadary will be gone by then. I wouldn't assume Buddy will be back if he could make some money in Europe/NBA.

You mean lie to him? We have other guys that will be here. Namely, Joe G. Come on.

this isn’t necessarily the case here - but kids that are top 40 want guaranteed playing time. Boeheim doesn’t do that. You play you practice you earn it. Many of these kids that end up at “random” schools go to there because they don’t have to earn anything. They are promised the world and Syracuse basketball promises you an opportunity to compete and earn. Please keep that in mind when it comes to why or if SU “loses” kids

This is the kid I would pick to become an NBA All-Star. Don't think JG3 or even Kadary have that potential. Of course, I was the one that thought Browning Nagle would be a better qb than Brett Favre...

You hearing anything different than what has been mentioned? No pt here and what not? Or did he just like OSU more?

Did you place a call to the basketball office today? Looks like your plea may have come to fruition!

You think Dior decommitting helps us out here?

Yes it is. This kid was our huge coup. Anyone who questioned recruiting could be countered with Dior that's gone.
You don’t think the timing of the Roddy/OSU chatter and what has been said in here about there not being room at the inn in 2022 correlates with us “mutually splitting” with Dior?

Not saying it’s a definite but it makes sense. I’m looking forward to what the insiders have to say
