The NCAA transfer portal rules around coaching changes have been revised:
players now get a 15-day window to enter the portal, starting 5 days after a new head coach is hired (following a 5-day meeting period). If no coach is hired within 30 days, players get a 15-day window starting day 31. These changes aim to give new coaches time to recruit and reduce mid-season departures, with specific rules for football and basketball differing slightly in implementation but moving toward a single window.
