Yeah, but they were unanimous selections.walker definitely belongs there. Robinson and Tucker are neck and neck with Robinson having a slightly better ypc and 1 more td. Hard to argue those two.
Also doesn’t hurt that MSU is 7-0 and Texas is at least 4-3, plus just perception at laegewalker definitely belongs there. Robinson and Tucker are neck and neck with Robinson having a slightly better ypc and 1 more td. Hard to argue with the two they named.
Kinda reminds me of the year (1992?) Emmit Smith, Barry Sanders and Thurmon Thomas were all neck and neck for the rushing title going down to the last week of the season.if they had three RBs on the team, Sean would be there. they are all really good and I think any order of those top 3 are fair. anything below that? no.
This week Sean Tucker will likely become leading rushing in FBS. Michigan State, Texas and Duke all have byes this week. Our bye is a few weeks away.
All of this with at least four games remaining to play this season.
- With 100 yards rushing this week, Tucker will go over 1000 yards for the season.
- With 100 yards rushing this week, Tucker will have 7 100 yard games this season and tie the record for most 100 yard rushing games in a season at Syracuse. Jim Brown and Joe Morris have 7.
- With 100 yards rushing this week, Tucker will set an new Syracuse record with 6 100 yard games in a row.
- With 118 yards rushing this week, Tucker will pass Floyd Little and become the tenth leading rusher in a season for Syracuse.
At his current rate Tucker will set several records before this season is over.
- All time leader in carries in a season.
- All time leader in rushing yards gained in a season.
- All time leader in rushing yards per game for a season.
- All time leader in number of 100 yard rushing games in a season.
- Top 10 number of rushing TD's in a season.
- Top 10 average yards per carry for a season.
By the time tucker is done at Syracuse he could hold several rushing records.
- Already Top 10 in 100 yard games for a career (9).
Maybe he should keep #34 so he can stand by himself and get his own number retired one day.
Robinson is crazy with some of his runs this year.Haven't seen Texas yet this year. But Walker is really good. Tucker should be there though.
Under, “at his current rate” are those records for CFB or just SU?
Rushing Yards - NCAA College Football FBS current ...if they had three RBs on the team, Sean would be there. they are all really good and I think any order of those top 3 are fair. anything below that? no.
Rank | Name | Team | Cl | Position | G | Rush | Rush TD | Rush Yds |
1 | Kenneth Walker III | Michigan St. | Jr | RB | 7 | 152 | 9 | 997 |
2 | Sean Tucker | Syracuse | So | RB | 7 | 155 | 9 | 948 |
3 | Bijan Robinson | Texas | So | RB | 7 | 146 | 10 | 924 |
For the Orange.
I focused on SU to help put his accomplishments (and potential accomplishments) into some historical perspective when discussing his place among the greatest of the Orange.
I kind of don’t hate itMaybe he should keep #34 so he can stand by himself and get his own number retired one day.
That’s an insane classKinda reminds me of the year (1992?) Emmit Smith, Barry Sanders and Thurmon Thomas were all neck and neck for the rushing title going down to the last week of the season.
Edit: I looked it up. It looks like it was 1991. Emmit Smith won it but played one more game than the other two. Sanders was 15 yards behind. Thomas was held out of the last game of the year along with some other starters for the Bills.
I saw him play TCU, just shut down the game on the last drive, something ridiculous like 9 straight carries all the way down the field, not the stiffest defense this year, but all the same they could not stop him.Haven't seen Texas yet this year. But Walker is really good. Tucker should be there though.
They weren't in the same class. Thurman Thomas was in the '88 draft, Sanders the '89 draft, and Smith the '90 draft. It's sick that Thomas and Sanders were on the same college team for three years though. That’s an insane class
Yeah I used the wrong word there but did not care to correct. It's crazy those 3 were the leaders. Not always the case the top RBs in college end up being elite NFL hall of famers. Those 3 all were literally elite players. That's insane to me.They weren't in the same class. Thurman Thomas was in the '88 draft, Sanders the '89 draft, and Smith the '90 draft. It's sick that Thomas and Sanders were on the same college team for three years though.
Granted it is only about 40 years worth of viewing but Barry Sanders is the best RB, college AND pro, that I have ever seenThey weren't in the same class. I can't like this enough. After posting my comment I youtubed highlights because it's been a while. Nobody has made so many good defensive players look foolish by completely wiffing.Granted it is only about 40 years worth of viewing but Barry Sanders is the best RB, college AND pro, that I have ever seen
I agree with this. Just an insane running talent. It's hard to compare RBs with different styles. For example, Jim Brown was the perfect combination of speed, power and balance. Derrick Henry just runs over and past people. But no one comes close, imo, to the pure running ability of Barry Sanders. He had top level speed and balance, but, he had extraterrestrial agility that puts him above the rest. Guys would trap him in the backfield and he would juke left, right, spin and take off for 50 yards.Granted it is only about 40 years worth of viewing but Barry Sanders is the best RB, college AND pro, that I have ever seen
