If the NCAA adopted the NBA 24 second shot clock, which type of teams would benefit? Which teams THIS season would benefit the most?

I think at first a team like us might benefit, since we often make teams use a lot of the shot clock, but I really think after a few years we would barely even notice the difference.

It would help the better teams. More possessions over 40minutes will simply give the better team more chances to show that they are better. It would make it harder for the inferior teams to win because they would have to execute well many more times than normally to win a game.

I think it would definitely benefit the best, most aggressive defensive teams, because it is much easier to focus on defense for 24 second stretches than it is to focus for 35 seconds. How many times has SU been shifting for 33 seconds, only to have a slight breakdown with mere seconds left on the clock. Of course the desperation banked threes would still happen with 24 or 35 seconds.

Missouri - They have good guards plus if they put on the full court press by the time the other team gets it over they may only have 17 seconds or so to get a shot up.

I am under the category of the 24 second shot being awful for the college game. It'll lead to more one on one break down plays and less systems and fundamentals. It may benefit SU because of how their offense is run but I for one don't mind how Notre Dame, Georgetown, and Michigan play (systems not players).

Seeing teams hold the ball on the perimeter to waste clock does nothign for me.

The defense can speed them up. SU let them play slow ball by not pressing more or pushing their traps out higher. I still think SU wins against them 9 times out of 10 but I don't have a problem with how they won that game minus some of the non-fouls on the ogre.

It's not much different when SU goes to stall ball and does the three man weave at the top of the key except they don't do it the whole game. Typically teams come out and force them to drive and over-play to make them come out of the stall ball and alot of times it works.

It's coaching and strategy. That's what makes college hoops fun and not like NBA Jam.

'Cuse, KY, NC and maybe OSU, Kansas, Kstate, Florida and Missouri
big 10 would sink..pac 12 would fall

As others in this thread have already said:

The more talented teams that tend to run like UNC, Mizzou, UK, KU, us.

The NDs and Wisconsin would be handicapped.

But, having said that, I would never want to see a 24 second clock in cbb, but wouldn't mind seeing a 30 second one.

Cheers,
Neil

It would help us. We already force a decent amount of shot-clock violations with the current clock.

I think the B10 would collapse into a puddle of water...although Izzo would figure out a way to adapt and make the Final Four.
