So damn proud of this team...

Almost everyone on here wrote off Syracuse, but our guys came out to play. Kept the game close until the 4th. Maybe if we had hunt or Dungey the game goes ever so slightly different but they played hard. The coaching staff coached well. As Syracuse fans we have to feel like there are no more guaranteed losses. We should be competitive in any game we play and that's really all you can ask!

They hung with a top 10 team with the top player in the nation, while using a 5th string walk-on QB, for 50 minutes. A few breaks geaux their way in the last 10 and who knows what happens.

Good foundation to build on for the season. Now recoup with the bye week and come out strong vs USF. Ceiling with this team might be 8-9 wins if Dungey comes back strong.

I know some like to say "a loss is a loss", well I think that's hogwash. LSU coming in and mopping the floor with us 55-10 is completely different on so many levels than the extremely valiant effort we put forth today. I feel better after this loss than I did after last year's Villanova win and the 2011 Toledo win.

Also, I guarantee you there are casual fans and children that attended the game today that became SU football fans for life. Which is exactly why we should continue to play one big time opponent every single year (in the Dome, not MetLife).

That's a good point. Willing to bet this isn't a 10-point game in the Meadowlands.

l'd like to add, anyone who'd rather have played some garbage cupcake today is out of their mind.

Agree 10000000%. Completely and utterly out of their mind.

can we please stop the #narrative of the 5th string, walk on QB now?

1- he's clearly our #2
2- when the pre-season began, I believe he was our 6th string, walk on QB (behind Hunt, AJ, Wilson, Dungey & Womack)

Great game. Mahoney can make all the throws except screens.

I'm feeling pretty damn good about the rest of the season. Let's get healthy for USF.
Not exactly, but .that is for another day.

This is a dumb question, but what year is Mahoney exactly?

I don't ever believe in "moral victories" but...

This was a moral victory. Without question. 5th string, walk-on QB, against the Heisman frontrunner and all of that SEC speed and a top 10 team, and we keep it close?

This team could VERY WELL be 6-1 going into the Florida State team. I know it'll take some doing, but after today, how can you not think that - assuming Dungey and Philips are back healthy - USF, UVA, and Pitt are all winnable?
