So damn proud of this team...

can we please stop the #narrative of the 5th string, walk on QB now?

1- he's clearly our #2
2- when the pre-season began, I believe he was our 6th string, walk on QB (behind Hunt, AJ, Wilson, Dungey & Womack)

No. He played about as good as you could have hoped for today but he's still a walk-on QB. Props to him but this fight was all the more impressive having him as our starter.

I don't ever believe in "moral victories" but...

This was a moral victory. Without question. 5th string, walk-on QB, against the Heisman frontrunner and all of that SEC speed and a top 10 team, and we keep it close?

This team could VERY WELL be 6-1 going into the Florida State team. I know it'll take some doing, but after today, how can you not think that - assuming Dungey and Philips are back healthy - USF, UVA, and Pitt are all winnable?
Assuming we would be ranked as well... ! If we do that.

Agree 100%. They outperformed beyond anyone's wildest expectations today. We held our own with a team that's arguably a top 5 team right now. Nothing to be ashamed about here. And if Dungey plays, we may very well have won.

Definitely something to build on. He accomplished some things today. Dungey/Long/Mahoney/Culpepper next year is some legitimate depth.

Long may seek greener pastures

Culpepper should prep for a year, both to rehab and then have 3 years as a starter taking over for the 2x defending champion QB Dungey and following in the footsteps of Zack "the Mack" Mahoney who is going to Philcox the NFL

No way Culpepper preps, unless there's an injury concern. If Long's plan was to transfer I think he'd be pushing to play now instead of redshirting.

obviously a little tongue in cheek with my post. you of all people here should recognize that.

I don't think Long was really thinking about moving on, esp burning this year and would have to do the same unless he went way down in weight class.

that said, he's now looking at Dungey and Mahoney ahead of him, and with plenty of eligibility left. With Culpepper and his bloodlines joining that group, plus hopefully another solid QB recruit or 2, Long may think otherwise

Ha, fair enough. I wouldn't put Mahoney ahead of Long though. Long had a similar, actually probably a better game vs FSU last season, and he also won a road game. Ideally, we only see Mahone in mop up time the rest of the year.
