So do we get St Penn Transfers?

Why do I think Rutgers will benefit from this?
Yeah I've got that same feeling. Obviously different, but they will benefit like they did amidst the chaos at Pitt a couple years ago.

And when P was let go.

Unfortunately your feelings are spot on. Just like the situation at Pitt the other poster mentioned in this thread Rutgers is going to end up finding gold again because of another schools actions. PSU has a bunch of NJ guys committed allready for this class and I am sure most will likely now decomitt. Unreal how that program keeps falling into these gifts.

I could see we have a decent shot at one...OL Donovan Smith

If I was a true frosh just heading in I would transfer in a heartbeat, 5 years left, no sit out or just use your red shirt

Guys... I think we're being too short sighted thinking about what players we should go after... I have one name that I would target...Larry Johnson.

Would he come with the snake oil?

agree. remember, they still get to play football, which is really all that matters. in '12 & '13 they should field a pretty good program, its the guys with a lot of time left that will likely head out of dodge and then with the reduced amounts of schollys, its the '14+ years that will be a tough row to hoe.

unless the b1g steps in, it appears we are still on for Giants Stadium next fall.

that sound you heard, was bees head exploding.

1. There isn't any place for him on the staff.

2. And more important, 'Bees would go through the roof.

Nah!

Rutgers ain't a substitute for Penn State. These kids, who do transfer or switch their commitments are going to look at better programs than Rutgers.

Do you really think that kids who committed to PSU had Rutgers as their second choice? Look for the to land at better programs.

As long as he brings in his normal haul, I'm fine with him coming on board. Nothing has linked any of this to him, so I have to believe he's in the clear at this point.

Personally, I'd prefer staying as far away from any Penn State coaches as possible. You never know what might come out in the future, and that's not the kind of attention we need, particularly after the Bernie Fine thing.

I'm not insinuating that he's involved with the scandal, I just don't think he is an honorable guy.

You would think so but look how many decommits they got after the Pitt coaching change. A lot of those players are NJ kids and while RU likely wasnt there second choice they may to go back home. Major programs arent going to have the room or ability to take in 3-4 transfers each, RU is likely to make out in this scenario once again.

Also check the RU rivals board out they allready have a thread with potential players who could transfer mostly NJ guys and guys they lost out on head to head with PSU.

That's because they brought a Pitt coach on board [OC], correct?

NO NO NO NO. I still can't believe PSU kept LJ on the staff through this whole ordeal. There have been whispers of something fishy up there for a while. No shot I buy that LJ didn't know about Sandusky et al. He should have been let go after the Freeh report came out.

Not to mention that traditionally Rutgers coaches sell recruits on the notion that an invite to the B1G is imminent

^ ^ ^ This ^ ^ ^

It kind of feels sleazy to talk about getting players at PSU's expense, in light of the bigger picture of what went on there.

That said, sign me up for an OL and a WR.

Yes several but they also were mostly NJ recruits. PSU has a lot of NJ players on there roster, this is a gift for Rutgers.

The one thing that we have going for us is that Rutgers is presently stuck in the Big East, which will be a non contract league, at this point. SU will still have a seat at the big boys table. So the coaching staff has that in their ensemble to sell to Penn State recruits. Will they want to play in a diminished league like the BE, or would they rather play in the Acc?

Akeel Lynch? Can't remember how close we were with him last year.
