So do we get St Penn Transfers?

Yes several but they also were mostly NJ recruits. PSU has a lot of NJ players on there roster, this is a gift for Rutgers.

I get what you're saying--it's just that I don't equate what's happening now with what happened at Pitt. The Pitt situation involved a bunch of prospects leaving to follow a group of coaches to RU.

This could potentially involve PSU not being able to poach recruits from RU's stomping ground moving forward, where PSU has owned them on the recruiting trail. But what benefit that gives to RU remains to be seen. If their coaching staff shits the bed and proves to be overmatched, they may not be able to sustain recruiting or get in on the type of kids that they were competing with PSU for.

I could see we have a decent shot at one...OL Donovan Smith
I would think Locksley is probably already sitting in his driveway in Owings Mills seling his family on transferring to UMD.

Definitely don't want to see any of their incoming recruits Signing with SU. Their incoming players are all clearly dillusional for having picked PedSt in the first place. Those kids are near the bottom of the barrel in my book.

The benefit for Rutgers is that with there cream puff schedule and the fact that the BE no longer has WVU which Rutgers hasnt beaten since Clinton was in office, they have a chance at another winning record and could benefit greatly from not having to worry about PSU gettign any additional NJ players and now having a shot at the 5-8 commits from NJ they allready have. I think ultimately the RU staff is way overmatched but they should have at least a .500 record with that horrible OOC schedule which maybe all they need for this year.

Lou Holtz just raised a very good point. When SMU got the Death Penalty in '87, college coaches descended on the campus to recruit their players. Apparently, that's not allowed anymore; it's considered tampering, a NCAA violation. So HCDM can't stroll into Happy Valley and hope to come away with a handful of signees. The players would have to approach SU. Doesn't seem to me that were were the second choice to many current PSU players or recruits.

My expectation is that Rutgers football will slowly spiral into irrelevancy. The slide has already begun with what transpired with their head coaching situation.

For some reason, I don't feel sleazy. Hey, probably b/c I've been sleazy all my life.

You want names? How about:

S Stephen Obeng-Agyapong, 5-10, 201, Bronx, NY

DT DaQuan Jones, 6-3, 317, Johnson City, NY

TB Curtis Dukes, 6-1, 242, Evans Mills NY

DE Carl Nassib (Ryan's bother, I'm guessing walk-on?) 6-6, 230, Malvern PA.

You're welcome.

I agree 100%, I just think in this case they are likely reap some benefit versus if this had happened say 2-3 years down the road.

Hmm Dukes is an interesting case, I could see him at Syracuse ditto for Jones though the D line is filling up fast. If SU goes after any positions the OL and WR should be it, we need help there more then any other place.

I'd forgotten about DaQuan Jones. Hmmm...

Its not about being a second choice, its if you have room at the inn to offer a scholarship. We have room, a lot of Schools might not.

Schools can't go over their 85 scholarships to add a PSU player at this time

I thought that it was reported that schools will get an exemption, where PSU transfers wouldn't count against the scholarship limit this year?

The NCAA release said they are considering it, but it's not been decided. If implemented, the school accepting the player would have then have to reduce their scholarship offerings accordingly for the next year.

Got it -- thank you.

I'd be really surprised because of "us against the world" rah rah, and no one wants to be the first one to leave. But if a couple 1st day NFL prospects decide a move could help them out, the floodgates could open.

How about Urschel - the Buffalo Canisius kid. He's a 5th year senior this year I believe and a starter along the offensive line. He's a kid we could use immediately.

A 5th year senior?

Wouldn't a 5th year senior want to transfer to a team that's a lock for a great bowl?

You may have kids who don't want to travel far from home so they'll look at the nearby schools depth charts. kids ain't gonna want to transfer and sit the bench that's for sure.

Hard to move to a team and play that is slotted for a 'great bowl'.

Kid could start at Syracuse his final year (plays guard)- and frankly, we could still make a BCS bowl this year. BE is terrible.
