I love the roster although it’s not filled with big names and top recruits, as I’ve been realistic about who our floundering program could attract. I think it is smart for Gerry to rush and build the team quickly to snag and prioritize players who would have been looked at by the big programs after they catch the big fish.

This team is better than the team that GMAC led at Siena that almost gave the dookies a heart attack. I believe that Gerry is a good coach to where we can win the games that we should win, pull off a few surprise upsets and lose some close competitive contests to good teams. All of that is a win and should raise our profile to get even better players next year.

Not sure if Duke will be better than Louisville this year. The Cards are having a nice off season

Not sold on the Cards. Some of the pickups are overrated. Shelstad specifically. Games aren’t won in the portal. Pieces need to fit.

I would hope that we are a lot better than Siena was. God, that bar is very low.

The bar is low because we have been a very bad team for a very long time. We’ve lost quite a bit to Siena type teams and lower level ACC teams over the past few years. Let’s get over the low bar with our average to lower than average power conference team and then keep going higher.

That duke game was a one off perfect storm. Duke came in looking towards round 2 and Siena was ready to play. If that game was played 10 times duke wins all 10 by an average of 20 points. Duke shut them down most of the 2nd half.

They won the second half by 18 points. They put two halves together and Gerry might not have gotten this job.

I think you mean if Siena didn’t shut Duke down that first half, Gerry might not have got the job.
