So seriously what is Fran doing?

It's truly the most head scratching and idiotic things I've ever seen in all my years of watching college football.

Even if the motivation was "you want to boo Collins and see what else we have, here you go", it's complete and utter malpractice to put Filardi out there.

Genuinely might be a more embarrassing game than the Akron loss.

there was no gameplan whatsoever. playing a QB that clearly was not prepared, and cannot throw a decent accurate pass. how can Filardi be better than Carney? no short passes, screens, slants, or anything easy for either QB. just a terrible job of coaching today

Last week a long time poster here was shamed and called out by suggesting Fran was a fraud in the game thread. Even an admin did his part in contributing to the ‘reindeer games.’ Below, is a definition of fraud;

‘A person or thing intended to deceive others, typically by unjustifiably claiming or being credited with accomplishments or qualities.’

After watching what was on display tonight, on national TV to boot, perhaps his “hot take” in that game thread, isn’t so “hot” after all?

Something doesn't add up, that is for sure.

I don't know what the rationale was for starting a walk-on practice squad frosh LAX player QB that is clearly not a D1 QB by any stretch... And sticking with him all game.

It looked like what it was... Amateur hour and coaching malpractice.

Is this whole game a scree you to Carney? To arm chair quarterbacks questioning his decisions? This whole thing is weird.

Another possibility is that HCFB wasn't trying to convince the armchair coaches, but that he was trying to convince...HCFB.

Going straight from the [replacement] QB1 to the walk-on without really stopping at QB2 or QB3 on their own published depth chart sure looks capricious. I don't think some unconscious-self-sabotage is out of the question here.

It's stupid and nonsensical that they've chosen the "anybody but Carney" strategy.

Is the kid a massive jerk or something?

It is pretty clear even in the games Syracuse has had success under Fran Brown that he is not a good game-day coach. I’m fine with that, so long as the game is won and he won 10 of them last year. But even in many of these wins there is some head scratchers, look at Clemson game for instance how they pretty much just had to run and kept throwing with Collins,

the fqans were screaming for change...now, we all know why there was no change earlier. We do not not have one Power 4 QB that is game ready after Angeli!

At this point the only logical excuse is that Fran was sent in by Schiano to tank Syracuse. It’s the only thing that would make sense to me at this point.
Yeah. He did that by winning more games at Syracuse than Rutgers has won since goddamn 2001

Quite honestly, I’m not sure he knows what he’s doing. Who is coaching these QB’s and what is this offense and the coordinator doing to help them? I just don’t know. Didn’t Fran say he’s either coaching it or allowing it to happen? It’s horrendous what this offense looks like right now. Horrendous
I mean he ran out a walk on true freshman as the starter tonight? And was expecting results? He was talking the kid up on a radio show two weeks ago? I don’t blame the kid one bit, blame the coach who ran him out there and thought it was a good idea. Has to be one of the biggest boneheaded moves by a Syracuse coach ever and that’s saying something

The offense looked like a bad modified team last night. The O line flat out stinks as well. Slow , stiff, unathletic big people do not beat up little people.

Fran Brown is all hat no cattle, he talks a big game and yeah he’s a great recruiter but he’s over his head right now with what he’s trying to deal with and it shows
