Outside uk, fla, vandy, tenn. What does the sec bring?
Replace Tenn with Miss State. MSU is a solid club and was ranked 18th before they lost today.

It was a ranking of the power conferences. SEC is 5, Pac 12 is 6.You can't put the SEC and Pac-12 in the same stratosphere as each other. The SEC is light years better.
That made me a little giddy. Vandy's zone is nothing compared to ours and UK really issues from deep as well. I think we'd have problems on the boards vs. them though, it'd be a really interesting game.Watching UK vs. the zone is like watching Jonah Hill try to get laid. It's just hilarious how difficult it is for them to function all of a sudden.

Take away UK, and the SEC starts to approach the Pac 12, imo. UK doesn't have to play itself, so it's a plausible hypothesis.
The SEC is full of a bunch of sludge. The SEC East, where UK gets the benefit of home and homes, is particularly bad.
The biggest problem with the Pac12 is they have 3 sub 200 RPI teams. USC, ASU and Utah are really, really bad. They drag the whole league down. They also don't have the benefit of having an elite team like UK to pull the league up.In terms of overall conference RPI ratings, the SEC is 4th and the Pac-12 is 10th. The Pac-12 (.5267) is closer to the Sun Belt Conference (.4832) than they are the SEC (.5732).
I personally think that Florida is a legitimate Final Four contender.

I'm not saying that the Pac12 is as good as the SEC. I'm just saying that if you take UK out of the SEC and put them in the Pac12, then their conference rating would be a lot closer.
Ville marq gtown nd better than SEC teams
YesIs ND better than Georgia?
Is Marq better than Vandy? Better than LSU?
Is Louisville better than UK?
Would Gtown beat Bama on a neutral court?
Well, the Big East did go 8-4 against the SEC in the SEC/BE challenge. That included St John's somehow being matched up with UK. I still wish we got to play them instead. Is ND better than Georgia?

GTown won at Bama unless this post is all sarcasm
Nobody is claiming the Big East is great this year. It is clearly down from years past. That being said, the SEC isn't that good, and hasn't been very good in a long time. Take away the UK team from two years ago, and the UF teams from 06 and 07, and the conference has been really, really bad. Top to bottom, the BE is still better, imo.Good point. My bad.
The overall message is the same: There is not a very large gap betw. the two conferences (in men's college basketball).
Yeah, I noticed how he got Jones so psyched today. Good grief..the guy cheats, resulting in recruits and his quick exit before sanctions and so many want to crown him king.Eh, Cal is shady but the guy can coach. He gets those young guys to execute and play hard. Talent is one thing but he gets them to play as a team and maximizes each player's potential, imo.

UF is a decent, but not great team this year. Their inability to win on the road is what really keeps them from rising to the ranks of elite teams.
Vandy is a good team, but they are wildly inconsistent this year. Most of that has to do with their Center's injuries.
Find some better data. Cutting out the last 4 years doesn't help your argument. As of 2009, the trailing 10-year Conference RPI for the SEC was 2nd, ahead of the Big East. I hardly think that counts as not being "very good in a long time".

It's hard to tell how good they really are as the SEC is so weak this year. Vandy sucks and Florida is just a 3-pt shooting fest so they are inconsistent. The rest of the league is weak. Cal's dribble-drive offense always has trouble with a good zone defense. I think we'd give them problems but we'd need to shoot it well from the outside.
