Not even remotely close? To being a bubble team?

That's a bizarre assessment of a super young team that is trending in a positive direction.
Well, we already have four losses, two to Bryant and Colgate at home, and we're 6-4 overall. So, while I agree that we are at least seeing improvement, we would have a lot of work to do to get into a bubble discussion at this point.

At this time its an extremely accurate assesment. The question was are we on the bubble yet. Look at the Net rankings. How would we be close to the bubble?? Moving forward, we are not in a great position, at all. The ACC is not a good confrence this year, and that is being kind. Many potential wins, if we get them, will mean very little. We have some very bad losses and haven't beaten anyone of any significance yet.

The Net ratings are a joke right now. Not representative at all. None of our losses are “very bad.” Bryant is a frustrating loss b/c we shoulda won that stupid game. But Judah got tossed, Hima was injured, Benny was sick and Joe made an idiotic decision at the end to throw the ball away instead of calling timeout.

the bubble is for those 30+ teams on it.. how good is the bubble right now anyway? we could be awful and still be on the bubble.. i do think we can see the bubble from 2 bubbles over .

If you want to debate that the Bryant and Colgate losses are bad as opposed to very bad, thats fair and certainly arguable. But they sure as heck are not going to help us come bubble time lol. Using any ranking metric out there we are not even close to a bubble team at this time. And for the record I would absolutely love for this team to make the ncaa tournament, hence my OP when I used the word "unfortunately". But it just simply is what it is right now. We are not a bubble team.

As of right now Ken Pom is the best metric given its so early..

Last year we had 9 teams finish in KP top 100 in the ACC. Right now we have 10. We also have FSU and Louisville at cupcake level numbers this year dragging us down where they would typically be at least top 150.

It’s interesting that suggesting we aren’t currently on the bubble is considered a negative skew.

I’d suggest saying we are currently on the bubble is literally delusional.

If you want to say we have no chance to be on the bubble going forward, I’d agree it’s a negative skew.

We are def improving and have a chance in the ACC

Let's assume we have seriously improved and are really turning it around. There are still so many things going against us from a tourney perspective since all games are viewed the same no matter when they are played.

1. We still have brutal OOC losses against Bryant and Colgate
2. We will have no quality OOC wins
3. The ACC is not good again in OOC play ... potentially a tad better than last year (P12 still struggling like last year and BE is down). But a very big gap between ACC and the BIG, SEC, and B12. Those 3 conferences might get 25 bids this year.

#3 is huge because it restricts ability to get many Q1+Q2 wins, which we need to offset what will be a terrible OOC.

We need to go 14-6 in the ACC to get in the conversation in my early assessment. And that may well not be enough.

We will also need Richmond to go on a run in the A10, Gtown to have a good year in the BE and Colgate and Bryant to be at the top of the Patriot and AE. Those two bad losses will have to stay as Q3 losses at worst.

I don't think we can be on any 'bubble' where we get in with our annual 1st round ACCT loss.

The league is bad and no one on the bubble will be safe if they don't win a couple conference tournament games.

We are probably close to being in with 2-3 wins in Greensborough though. Lots of leagues like the AAC and A10 are looking like 1 bid leagues. If we win the next 5 before @ UVA we will have made up for the Colgate and Bryant losses.

We’ll have to win 20+ games. We have horrible losses. The ACC is hot garbage so we have a slim chance to do it, but I think this team ends up around 15 wins.

You guys just don’t learn, do you? We went through this same charade last year. People lost their minds every time Colgate lost a nonconference game, then those same people got real quiet while the Red Raiders rolled through their league. They’re even losing to some of the exact same teams.

Losing to Colgate isn’t ideal, but it’s not the death knell some of you think it is. Same goes for Bryant.

At least five ACC teams will make the tournament. If we finish fifth or better, we’ll get in in. We’ll be on the bubble if we’re sixth or seventh. Bryant and Colgate won’t matter.

Keys to enjoying the season that I have hypnotized myself into embracing: Enjoy watching the development of the youger players and hope/pray/whatever that it culminates in enough improvement to make an ACC tournament run. I'm only going back into BURN IT ALL DOWN mode if we have another Bryant/Colgate type of loss.
