So, we only got 1 commitment from opening weekend for visits?

Can one of you nerds translate binary for me? Does this mean we have 2 commits now?
If Vince is speaking binary then it means 3 as 1... or 3 in 1. Maybe they got a silent verbal from the holy trinity.

Teams are not going to wait and some will have no room at the inn.
Don't agree, otherwise you'd see a lot of mid tier transfers already signed. The top 50-60 teams are going to do what they can to get the top transfers. I think this can easily be evidenced by the fact that so many teams have only a few signed transfers so far.

I feel this year kids are being correctly advised my agents to take several visits and find the right spot
As we can see this year a ton of kids are right back into the portal after a one year stop
I'm all for kids taking all their visits, to me it should just reinforce what Fran is offering
Yes we will still lose kids to a bigger bag, alot of teams will

Same thing. The 2nd stringer has to be good enough to play, or we don't HAVE "two deep" at that position. Like at QB last year. Being on the 2 deep, to me, means they will be expected to play.
I want people on the 2 deep, that if the starter goes down it's plug and play with no significant difference in play. In reality if you have 60 good players that's all you need. 44 for 1st and 2nd team offense and defense. And 16 additional for special teams and emergency fill ins.

I think you also need a scout team. And then the freshmen that are not ready for any of these. Rosters of 105 are there for a reason.

It’s a different kind of portal. Excellent players are entering each day and many(if not most) are taking multiple visits. Probably influenced by agents fishing for the most money but hopefully it helps kids make more informed decisions with the multiple visits.

I answered the question you asked, “[T]he window is only open for two weeks, right?”
You didn’t ask whether someone should sign before classes start, but you did get the answer right.
Then again, you probably knew the answer along.

Yes, of course I knew. I was making the point to the 'no worries' crowd that we need to close on a bunch of guys, and there's not much time to do it.

Totally agree, Bob.

I do think its fair to say that while its not time to worry yet, we are falling behind a bit in the portal so far. ACC rankings as of today, based on # of transfer commits:

UNC 9
BC 6
FSU 6
VT 5
Louisville 5
Duke 5
GT 4
Wake 4
Cal 3
UVA 3
SMU 2 (One 4 Star)
Syracuse 2
NC State 2
Clemson 1
Pitt 1
Miami 0
Stanford 0

#12 in the ACC so far, #54 nationally. Hopefully this changes soon, and I think it will. We are currently above the likes of Arizona, South Carolina, Tennessee, Iowa, Baylor, Utah, etc. Not time to panic, but I think time to start seeing some results

Correct. It is far too early to panic.

I also don't know where our ceiling for ranking is in this transfer portal class. I would be surprised if the final number of transfers exceeds 15.

I think the oline will be better with better coaching. 18-20 guys, 5 of them have to be able to play effectively.
That was my least worry as the new guy could coach them up but when is any team win in playoffs without a huge dt crushing people. Gotta get a guy who demands double teams and still wins. It won’t be cheap but that makes every guy behind him look better so they shouldn’t have a problem seeing a fellow player get paid like that.

We are now on day six of the portal, and have two commits. I decided to go to the On3 portal index and see how that stacks up. The top 50 schools have a combined 309 commits, for an average of 6.18 commits per school. 11 of those schools have two or fewer commits. So we’re towards the bottom of the top 50, per those numbers.

We have more than 2 commitments as of this moment, 99% confident on that. Not public yet and I don’t know who they are. But the coaches have posted what could essentially be heads up tweets that all coaches do around the country.

As additional people enter the portal after its been open for a few days perhaps that is because their scholarships are needed for transfers that we have and aren't known or the staff is confident we will be getting. I don't think we are going to see a ton of transfers though time will

We'll know more in 10 days where we stand. All of these teams have different needs, gameplans and issues to take into account.

Presume Miami is a bit busy right now thus the 0. VA Tech on the other hand has a new coach and has to find players that don't have issue playing for someone that is okay with rape for example. UNC probably is looking for guys that won't try and steal the head coaches girl. It's apples to Volkswagens to giraffes to try and compare at this point.
