I went to the Nova/Cuse game at the Dome and it was the first time I've seen SU at the Dome (football or basketball) in years. Probably 10 years or so? Went with a bunch of family and the kids and we had an excellent time -- I say this b/c I don't feel like getting into a huge argument of the merits of the Dome as a sports venue. Not my favorite but definitely fun for a big game like Nova and we had a great time.
However, I had completely forgotten just how miserable those concourses are and just how hard it is to get anywhere -- bathroom or food. It's also been upgraded from an aesthetic standpoint by Dr. Gross and I think it makes a difference, but the general appearance of the place is still a bit drab with all the gray and concrete, etc.
Anyway, point is this -- SU is losing a TON of money at every home game with a decent crowd (concessions) and there are undoubtedly a ton of fans not going b/c they don't feel like dealing with the mobbed concourses.
Maybe it was just being in the 300 level, but it was crazy. Is there any way of taking the existing structure and building around it (they did this at ND stadium and it made a HUGE difference -- like an entirely new stadium)? Is there any talk of replacing the Dome?
Again, had a great time but I'm just wondering b/c there has to be others who see the place as currently constituted as at the very least outdated, if not simply nonviable in today's cash is king world of college athletics.
