I went to the Nova/Cuse game at the Dome and it was the first time I've seen SU at the Dome (football or basketball) in years. Probably 10 years or so? Went with a bunch of family and the kids and we had an excellent time -- I say this b/c I don't feel like getting into a huge argument of the merits of the Dome as a sports venue. Not my favorite but definitely fun for a big game like Nova and we had a great time.

However, I had completely forgotten just how miserable those concourses are and just how hard it is to get anywhere -- bathroom or food. It's also been upgraded from an aesthetic standpoint by Dr. Gross and I think it makes a difference, but the general appearance of the place is still a bit drab with all the gray and concrete, etc.

Anyway, point is this -- SU is losing a TON of money at every home game with a decent crowd (concessions) and there are undoubtedly a ton of fans not going b/c they don't feel like dealing with the mobbed concourses.

Maybe it was just being in the 300 level, but it was crazy. Is there any way of taking the existing structure and building around it (they did this at ND stadium and it made a HUGE difference -- like an entirely new stadium)? Is there any talk of replacing the Dome?

Again, had a great time but I'm just wondering b/c there has to be others who see the place as currently constituted as at the very least outdated, if not simply nonviable in today's cash is king world of college athletics.

how many stadiums are not a paint to they thru when everyone leaves at half time? unless you spend huge amounts on concourses its a problem every place.. i think much of the issue with the dome is the flow more than the size. they need to rethink the lines for the food/bathrooms to try and get better traffic flow.

You must not have seen it but look for a lengthy thread about the same topic.

Two or three each year on both the hoops and football sides.

Oh Dear Lord! Did you really just link something from the Notebook? There will be consequences for this one.
Jeez dude - the least you could do is throw in a NSFW warning.

All the women around here are crying now. Hope you're happy.
This was my wedding song. My wife loved this movie.

For the record it wasn't that bad.

My wife still says why can't you be more like Noah.

Id hate to be the asssshole to tell her movies aren't real.

But seriously. Dome never feels drab or depressing. Feels like home.

My wife loves it as well. Keeps wanting to move to South Carolina and fix up one of those homes. I keep telling her good luck.

Aw man, I couldn't get even a full minute through that. I'd never heard of "The Notebook," and I'm glad I don't know what it is, and no, don't anyone try to tell me.

My bad -- I didn't even look. If the mods want to delete this one I have zero problem with it. I can just start a "Notebook" thread to cover that discussion ;) I was just honestly surprised -- I just don't remember it being that bad. It was every bit as much a disaster as Fenway pre-renovations.

Packed yes, impossible to move and get anywhere? no. MSG, for example, is pretty small and old school but you can still get around during the game and get drinks/ use the bathroom, etc. MSG at it's busiest in the past 10 BET games I've attended was nowhere close to that game.

aloha from south florida. the dome has made su bball. we'll win four of ten ncs when we get a legit coach. jimmy was great but he can't close the deal

it would be hilarious if we did win a title or two in the immediate years following Boeheim's retirement

Wait till you've been here for a few years.

For whom?

Everyone. Cuse fans get their titles, Igor gets to claim it was JB holding us back all along, people are too happy to argue.

I don't get it.
If you think his antics are old now. Just wait a few years. It's unbelievable. Boeheim could 4peat and Igor will insult his tavern league d.

I'd be sad for boeheim. The dude is the man. Hopefully he can win two while here. Then we can win 2 after he retires then we can all laugh. I am reading color him orange right now. Boeheim is the bees knees
