So What's the Attendance Excuse for Friday Night?

Just imagine if Fuller (who had nothing to do with the play) was set before the snap on that one ND fumble. Touchdown Orange. 7-0. Instead, 4 plays later, it was Touchdown Irish, 0-7.

Just imagine if the ref called that fluky spike play correctly. Touchdown Orange.

I don't know why people have forgotten the difference between an non competitive blowout, and one team just out playing the other. I mean do we have to go through our who's who list of lopsided scores against?
just imagine if villanova...villa-freakin-nova...could make a field goal.

we sent 35k to Giants Stadium last weekend. your turn.

Didn't you say 30k at first? Is this one of those stories where a year from now you'll say 40k?

I haven't seen anyone say anywhere near 35k.

Yes.

after talking to numerous people who went, a few in the press box...they told me it was DEFINETLY over 30k.

so i put it at 35k.

word is nd was at 40k.

and will you be there?
Haven't missed a home game since 2004.

They also have that whole upper corner reserved for students, which they won't even use. The Ticketmaster map doesn't even show all the tickets that are available. My source is an usher, who was told to stay home from this game. They aren't running with a full staff.

An usher does not know attendance more than I do, in most cases...

39 not 29 is more likely

That's as good excuse as any. I will be praying for your sins (while I follow the game on ESPN app). For those that don't know, the first game in the Dome in September 1980, was supposed to be the afternoon of Yom Kippur. They pushed the kick-off back until 7:30.
Why thank you. While you're following on your app, I'll be enjoying an overpriced beer at the Dome.

Did you count the number available on Ticketmaster when he said 29k wet sold at that time? He wasn't far off if he as off at all.

No, im just rather dumbfounded at the fact an ACC team would have 29k for the first ACC game... On a friday night.

Maybe he is right, but I find it hard to believe. We will see

I read on another site that Rutgers sold a record 31,000 season tickets this year.

Does anyone know how many seasons tickets Syracuse sold (besides me)?

Who's Rutgers ?

Say there are 35k sold and 26k show up...wouldn't that look great on national TV?

The Dome should place two huge orange tarps in both upper deck end zone seats to reduce capacity to around around 38k so it at least looks like a sellout. It's sad that Cuse is in the same boat as Kansas and Indiana regarding lack of football fan support.

Through five weeks, announced attendance in Football Bowl Subdivision games is down 1 percent compared to this point in 2013 and nearly 7 percent from three years ago.

The average FBS home crowd this season is 44,997, according to a CBSSports.com analysis of NCAA attendance data. That is down from 45,596 through five weeks in 2013, 47,181 in 2012 and 48,279 in 2011.

Who cares?

Honestly, the people there will be loud and enjoy themselves as long as it's a good game.

The people not there have their reasons.

If we start winning regularly more people will go.

**k it.
I think we should end every post on this site with

**k it.

I'm sorry but there is no way in hell there were 35K Cuse fans at MetLife last week. I was there and I would guess we had bet 10-15K orange fans. I might be a little low but I guarantee I'm closer to the real # than 35K is

Well we won't see since he didn't say what the attendance will be. He said how many had been sold at that time.

I know a dozen or more people who were there. They said 25k or so. One guessed 20k. Two media people had it at 25 and 22. So you're probably right, no where near 35k.

All I know is the ND ppl were EVERYWHERE. Took me about 10 min when arriving to park until I saw an Orange fan in an ocean of green.
It was easily more than 2/3 ND fans there I would guess at least 3/4 ND fans ... at least
It's embarrassing and frustrating and disconcerting ... but true

I was at Metlife for PSU and for ND. PSU game had 61K total...probably 40K PSU to 20K SU.

The ND game had roughly 77K people in attendance. There is absolutely no way in he11 that 35K were SU fans. It was absolutely 2:1 ratio for ND. 25K SU fans max. We tailgated in Lot L 10 I believe, and basically ND fans as far as the eye could see with a few SU folks sprinkled in. Sat in 316 and were outnumbered by Irish fans at least 3:1. Looking around the stadium, you saw pockets of orange, but make no mistake about it, ND fans showed up in full force. It was anything but a "home game" for SU.

The tailgate looked to be all ND as I was sitting in an hour of traffic winding through the parking lot, but inside, there were wayyyyy more Cuse fans than I thought there would be. I'd say 35k is pretty accurate.

I have a hard time believing that. Walking through the stadium to our seats and then looking around, it seemed like a mass of green & blue. If we had 35K there, we were awfully quiet. Whenever ND made a big play, the noise their fans made was twice as loud as the noise our fans made when we made a play. And we definitely made some, see 5 turnovers forced. So either we aren't very loud as a fanbase, or we were greatly outnumbered. My eyes tell me we were vastly outnumbered.
