There was some early talk about a top 40 class. Where did we finish among the major sites?

43rd by the numbers website
50th composite ranking
53rd by ESPN

Losing JSmith, JJordan and Sampson lowered the ranking considerably and not hitting on a kid like Salahuddin was the big difference btw where we finished and being in the top 40. Those few players is the difference.

I also noticed rvls is counting our walkon, Johnson, in our ratings.

Espn’s unreliable in my opinion. Not nearly as often updated as the other sites and seems to only care about top 100 recruits with top 15 teams.

Are the transfers taken into account? Adams looks like a difference maker at RB and I doubt he’s counted.

They are not. Adams won’t take a snap until next year anyways.

But the transfers should still be counted in the ranking of the class.
I don’t disagree with that. I can just see why they’re not. This isn’t a 2018 highschool commit.

Does anybody know how this compares with the last 2 years? It would be interesting to see if this class really is an uptick.

It won't be 'counted' as much as an uptick as it really is, due to being on the smaller side thusfar.

25 guys will often rate higher than 18 guys, just by virtue of quantity over quality.
We certainly moved up several notches on the quality scale w/ this class, especially if you were to include the two 4* transfers.

For purposes of evaluating the class, I don't think you can count transfers until the year they are eligible (2019).

And yes, I did mean on a "quality" scale, not on the scale that includes # of recruits.

So that documents the positive trend, but not as large an improvement as we might have expected.

Actually, that’s a pretty significant uptick. Consistently bottom of the pack ACC level to middle of ACC.
Just so I am clear - .8558 = middle of ACC?

10th in ACC

Here's how close they are bunched.

Within 1 grade point:
Pitt: .8584
Duke: .8574
NC State .8658

Within 2ish grade points:
NCarolina: 87.66(23rd ranked)
VT:. .8746
L'ville :. .8708

Only 3 teams are above Cuse by more than 2 points.

YES.

For reference, Alabama's 2017 #1 rated class was .9376

Those poor b@stards only finished at #7/8 for 2018, behind Georgia.

Georgia did this:

  1. Number of Commits: 26 (seven 5-star, 15 4-star, four 3-star)

247Sports Class Rank: No. 1 in SEC; No. 1 Nationally

So our recruiting has been that consistent for the last 15 years? I wonder how much evaluations have evolved over that time.

If we have a decent year and pull in another good recruiting year and then add Adams and the transfer from MSU, we should be in the low 40s maybe even high 30s.???

If you mean consistently poor(.82 and much less) from 2000-2015? Yes. This is a significant 3.6 point jump.

The lowest graded recruit, this year is better than the average recruit, for almost every year from 2000-2015.
