and strong rumors indicating Boise St will play BE football next year, that means we are in the BE 1 more year, we only have to find 1 more game. Stoneybrook has been added and Boise will be. I would think a MAC type team will be the 3rd. I have no doubt the BE will have both SU and Pitt (if they are in the BE this year) heading to Boise.

If Boise fills in for WV on the schedule ... they should be playing @Pitt, @UConn, and @Louisville, with home games against SU, USF, Cinci, and Snooki.

Well I am sure Boise St is inheriting WVU's schedule so both SU and Pitt will be playing on the smurf turf, and if I was Boise I would insist on the 4 H/ 3A split because they are totally screwing the Mountain West. The biggest hypocrisy in all of this is the Big East is trying to be the victim in all of this, but they are doing the same the thing to C-USA, MWC, and are just as guilty, but because they have to raid another conference its okay. Without Kellen Moore Boise won't be unbeatable, but I highly doubt we will be able to win out there hopefully its early in the season so we don't have a short a week later in the year. No doubt in my mind Pitt and SU will be the teams without the double bye weeks.

Why don't Pitt and Syr pay SMU and Houston's buyout from Conference USA and get out of here?

If that happens, what's the odds that Boise wins the league and gets the auto bid? If without Kellen Moore, I think they have a great chance. And that would be very embarrassing for this league. Nothing against Boise, I actually love watching them play and believe they don't get nearly enough credit, but it still wouldn't look good to have a non-qualifier come right in win the league championship.

Sad we will not play WV for the first time since 55 but that is part of this whole conference realignment thing. Atleast the trophy will stay with us for a long time.

From a purely football standpoint, I think this is actually better for us. WV will be a top 10 team next year with a great QB and I doubt Boise with all they lost, will be as good as they have been. Sure it is a farther trip, but the level of competition will not be as high.

Because money "don't grow on trees", my brutha. We don't have enough extra scratch to pay for our own buyout, much less their buyout.

Don't be so sure of that, Syracuse can certainly pay it, I just think they probably won't although I am sure there will be discussions the next few days

Screw staying, just go to the ACC now.

Difference: The ACC raided the Big East twice to fulfill their expansion dreams, while the Big East is now operating in survival mode. Yes, the Big East took some A10 teams when it started, but the A10 wasn't a football conference. The Big East offered something the A10 didn't have.

The Big East = Zach Tomaselli at this point.

There is no difference.

TGD is waiting for your check. I bet they'll let you deliver it in person and have dinner with TGD, HCDM & Floyd Little.

Hey if Czar pays the whole fee for SU to leave the big east I'll pay for their dinner!

If I could pay the whole fee to leave I would have enrolled at Syracuse and not passed it up.

And the ACC offers something the BE doesn't have. Leadership.

It is a pretty large chunk of change, no doubt about that.

I agree. That same mentality could also find the $$$ to expedite the much needed facilities upgrade that has been mentioned about so much as well. As generally the case, the majority of times, it's all about priorities and one's commitment to same.

Pretty sure those discussions would be held way above Gross' pay grade.

Big East, WVU reach $20M settlement
The Charleston Daily Mail first reported Thursday night that West Virginia and the Big East had reached a $20 million “conditional agreement.” West Virginia must pay the Big East $11 million and the Big 12 Conference would be responsible for the remaining $9 million, the Daily Mail reported. Acting Big 12 commissioner Chuck Neinas said recently the Big 12 would consider assisting the Mountaineers with their exit fees, if they asked.

It’s unknown if the $20 million is in addition to, or includes, the $5 million exit fee that West Virginia initially paid when it announced in October it was withdrawing from the Big East to join the Big 12 in 2012 and would not honor the league’s 27-month notice requirement before leaving.

Besides the $11 million it must pay the Big East, West Virginia also owes Florida State $500,000 after last week canceling a Sept. 8 game in Tallahassee. FSU athletic director Randy Spetman told the Orlando Sentinel his school might also seek liquidated damages against WVU if a comparable opponent can not be found.

Why the hell is WVFU willing to pony up some dough and we aren't? I wonder if the ACC would be willing to help out like the B12 is?

The real difference is Swofford & ACC actually are a balanced, proactive conference and look out for the conference team's interests.

The Big East Prafia made their bed with an unbalanced basketball/football dynamic and put power and money behind small parochial basketball schools at the behest of the breadwinning football schools.

None of this happened overnight and when your leadership alienates your football breadwinner schools with a dysfunctional conference set-up and a sharing of wealth and limitation on decision making input not seen in any other conference, the result is conference schools actively interested in other options.

The ACC raided the BE because it was ripe for raiding.

Do we have any guarantee that the buyout cost after next season will be any less that what WVU paid to get out right now? The Big East leadership is bitter over us leaving and could just be outright @$$holes by saying that they are willing to let us out a year early at the same cost as WVU. I honestly believe they could care less about how many teams are in the conference for that one extra year. This isn't about being good for the development of the football team by being in the Big East for one more year anymore. It goes far beyond that now. At the very least, there needs to be discussions going on at the University about getting out now. If it's not economically feasible, then so be it.

That's exactly my point, completely in agreement. What'd the difference going to be? $10 million? We're in line for a $11M-$12M increase in the ACC. It's a no-brainer.
