that ever decide to drive via 81 to Winston Salem mid October. Friday night 81 was traffic laden it took me much longer thenit was supposed to and was aggravating not to be able to use cruise control moost of the way, throw in a major accident in Hagerstown and you have a long long drive. Next time its Hancock to RDU. Also don't try to get a hotel on the fly, there are no rooms in Shenandoah Valley. I was desperate for room late Saturday night on the way home, and couldn't find one until Md. ( The room i found was available for a reason, it was bad ) I found out that this is huge tourist area in the fall. with apple festivals, civil war reenactments and other festivals, which also explained the Friday traffic, live and learn .
