Some Lemoyne Thoughts

autry was very displeased with freemans defense. when he took him out for the final time, you could see autry roll his eyes almost like you are forcing me to take you out right now.
Yeah, Freeman really needs to learn to rotate to help defense as a big. He was still making the decision to help while the layup was going in half the time.

Knowing when to rotate could be the easiest fix he'll ever make as a player, or it could be a lifelong problem that drums him out of the league in two years. Sometimes you can't teach defensive instincts.

I really hope it's the former, and he's got it down by mid season.

He has the physical skills to be a great helpside shotblocker, his mental game is the problem so far. And Lemoyne isn't as fast as many of the teams we'll play this year.

Right now, Freeman really can't be the choice as backup center, however Red feels about McLeod. He's just too slow to get to the middle.

I accidentally noticed this critique of Freeman's defense.

I am very happy to say that he has improved dramatically a this point in his career. He might not be plus defender yet, but dBPM has him at a 6.4 so far this year (stellar!) and win shares has him at dWS of .4 (worth half a win on defense alone so far this year). Both of those numbers are great. Apparently, he is a huge asset defensively when analyzing box scores. For comparison, last season dBPM had him as .8 and dWS had him at .4 dWS through 14 games. dWS is a cumulative stat, where dBPM is a rate stat.

I think the eye test doesn't yet think he is a plus plus defender, but this time last year he literally didn't know how to rotate to the basket. I would say he's come a long way really fast!

LeMoyne had a nice win today vs. the first place LIU. LeMoyne is now tied for 2nd place in conference at 4-2, right behind 5-1 LIU. Plus, LeMoyne is now 9-10 overall, which is a pretty good record for a low major that plays a lot of road buy games.
Please, it is LeMoyne.

And neither do I need the regular Fighting McNamara updates.

LOL. Now I have even more reason to post them. Oh, and by the way, the Oswego basketball team is 12-2 and have won eight straight, and the Oswego hockey team is ranked #4 in the country in D3.

Unfortunately this winter is colder and longer than most, so you need to find some rays of sunshine, especially when your primary teams suck.
