Sometimes in life, the one you want and need

wE hAvE tO gO oUtSiDe the SU fAmiLY...

If we do, is there enough money for them that will be confirmed in basically just a couple weeks? We need money and a coach. Ideally non family hire and money is the goal. The best family hire with the most money may be where we have to end up. In this world not sure we can survive or hope to survive without the money especially if we are having to beg just to get what we had last year.

If Martinelli Jr just understood modern offense, analytics and how to run offensive “Sets” he would be up 20 on UNC at halftime. He’s off my list! Can’t coach a modern offense!

Did GMAC really play only 5 guys 40 mins each against Duke (what the box shows)? Never seen that before. What a gutsy performance by the starters. No bench help?

Who are the other candidates you think have a better track record?
Quite honestly, I'm just ready for a change. I don't think GMAC's history at SU should eliminate him from consideration, but I would prefer to move past nostalgia. I'm sure GMAC is a good coach, but SU is a high-level job and we should get the best coach available regardless of where they went to school.

GMAC is getting the job. Done. They can’t miss out on what could be a grand slam. If it doesn’t work out, you pick up the pieces but come on!

NaTiIoNaL SeArch!

If we hire GMac and it doesn’t work out - I don’t think there are any pieces to pick up. Turn out the lights, the party is over - Syracuse basketball is officially as relevant as DePaul.

Who's Martinelli? Martelli's looking pretty damn good

The thing with “best” is it’s very subjective.

Yeah. How do you define it? Is it the best resume? The best skillset? Sometimes guys have great resumes but then don't translate to the next level or new position. Sometimes guys don't have much of a resume but they have a great skillset. Maybe they haven't had the chance to build the resume yet. Is better to go with the resume or just safer? If you think the lesser resume has the better skillset and more upside, is that the better option? Is it worth the risk? Do you have the confidence in your own discernment to know how to weigh the differing varables?

There have been guys that looked like shooting stars at one spot only to flame out at the next. Then there have been guys that were unknowns that become legends. It's enough of a crapshoot for me that I'll almost no reaction to the hire. I'll wait until next season to start forming opinions. Hopefully, whoever it is has enough resources to compete.

Gerry can do the x's and o's...if Cuse gives him the NIL, the crowds will return and I bet the players will play hard for him.
