Source: PSU lists Franklin, Golden, Munchak

@schadjoe
Penn State source said Al Golden agreed to speak about the opening as early as today because "It would be coming home."

I'd prefer someone coming down from the pros who doesn't have immediate recruiting ties.
2nd choice would be college coach who hasn't been recruiting any of our current prospects. Could move to best case if he withdraws all their current offers to try to bring in his own guys.
3rd would be who has been recruiting some of our current prospects, but those players weren't also looking at PSU.
Worst case would be a coach who knows our prospects that have also been looking at PSU along with whatever school he came from.

Although Munchak is well-known, I don't think he has enough of a WOW factor to cause an immediate effect. Long-term, they will always have an edge, so my main concern is holding together this years class and maybe grabbing a player from them if the new coach doesn't hit it off with one of their current commits/near commits. Not holding my breath on the latter though - would need an incredibly bad first visit for this to happen.

Franklin has taken this job. He's a PA product, has good ties to coaches in PA, MD and the Tidewater from his UMD days. He's a good politician, good coach, and a good hire for PSU. I was really hoping to see them get stuck with Shady. The work JF has done with far less talent and tradition at Vandy is going to bode well for the Nits going forward.

Ugh.
