Spring Practice Day #12: Sat. April 7, 2018

I guess I'm amazed by how little conversation there is this Spring surrounding the team...

Is interest down?
Is it because of limited coverage?
I'm willing to bet the Spring showcase will suffer.

I have a million questions, but I feel like we get very little access. I mean there's been an article or two a week on different position groups, but, that's it really.

The big news of spring will be the post-spring depth chart. I'm hoping they release one before August.

Fair enough. Do you see it decreasing over time or has it been that way since Dino arrived?
In 2010 and 2011, I watched multiple spring practices with other board members. The whole practice.

2012, Marrone shut the doors. Shafer continued the practice. Can't remember what the media rule was.

I don't think it's a media thing, honestly. I think Babers knows he's never going to have the most talent here and can only win by protecting the inner-workings of his offense as best he can (e.g., lingo, pre-snap activity, reads, etc.) Therefore, he needs to protect it and to him, that means controlling what gets out as best he can.

Again, I don't think casual fans are hooked in on spring ball. Spring is basically for the diehards. Now in August, that's why the PR hype machine needs to go into effect.

This is correct

I remember it would be a yearly tradition for me to go up to Manley and watch practice on Good Friday. I had it off. Wife always has to work. It was my day. Would not be many fans, maybe 75 to 100 but we were able to get right up close to fence.
