St Bonaventure Game Thread...

Glad we lost. winning crap like this only fortifies crap habits. Players need losses to get their freaking attention as sad as that is.

A charge, where the defender was falling backward before grazing shoulder contact was barely made, decides this game. What an officiating joke.

Therein lies the issue -- Brisset didn't bowl into the guy, he slid past him, there was marginal contact, I wouldn't have minded if they didn't call it a blocking foul. But to call it a charge is absurd.

I don't know how the ref got that wrong. When the entire crowd reacts with joy... He was only person in building that thought that was a charge. I didn't know players could be moving forward and still get the call

That guy wanted to make the big call. Even if it wasn't there. Then he called a foul on the jump ball.

I'm livid. Those were officials were terrible from start to finish. They should never do another game this year. They made themselves the stars of the game.

Hopefully a loss like this lets the team know they can't play on some cool guy stuff. If Tyus and Oshae brought their A game, they win tonight. The defense was lights out.

College basketball officials love to call the charge. It’s one of the reasons the style of play stinks compared to the NBA. All the rules are in favor of the defense.

Yeah. Again, sticks that we put ourselves in that position, but the refs continue to get the block / charge call wrong. Brisset slid past the guy, who was outside the restricted area -- it was an awful, awful call no matter how you slice it.

Seriously. It was a hell of a move from Brissett to slide in between the two Bonnies and make that. Our offense needs a lot of work. Not sure how much it can get better with the personnel and scheme. There’s going to be better defenses in the ACC. Not good how difficult it is becoming for us to score on Bonnies/GTown/UB for large periods of the games. Other ‘lesser’ teams are scoring plenty on all these guys.

Our offense is downright offensive. We had so many opportunities and couldn’t get it done. Yes the refs sucked the brownie eye but our offense sucked more.

That official's incompetent. Brissett slid to the side, the kid flopped, and the ref wanted to call it before it even happened. It's garbage... they lived off the refs.

What a joke of a crew.. the entire overtime was the officials running the show. Absolutely garbage. All 7 St Bon points in OT were at the FT line.
And we only scored 4 in 5 minutes. That’s the real story. (Although that charge was BS)

Had many chances to win that game --despite missing 10 free throws. Just can't score. Battle had a terrible game. Don't know how Brissett missed the rebound layup at end of regulation. And the charge call on Brissett was total BS. He avoided the contact by twisting sideways, the defender flopped and the idiot ref rewards the flop. Should have been an and-1 and a SU win. But such is life. Lots of games to go.

As stated earlier, college officials continue to get that block / charge call wrong, almost all of the time. Sucks.

A secondary defender, as well. On a play where the guy making a move to the basket, who'd beaten his man, slid past to avoid contact.

It's a joke ... they hung all over TB at the end of regulation and the only ref that couldn't see the play took away SU's winning basket. He pre-called the play ... had his hand up even before contact. Throw him out.

Had an uncontested layup by OB to win the game and almost shot an air ball. That was the game. Battle was just horrible the entire game. He’s whining too much about fouls instead of going strong. He might want to learn a jump stop move to score instead of throwing it up to the rim and hoping it goes in. The only way you can take away so much help defense against Battle is to run more motion offense instead of all of the high screens. You can lose the help in a motion offense, but everyone just stands and it’s easy to play help defense.

This was like UConn last year. Giving us every opportunity to take the game from them. But, man these refs. A travesty out there. As is our offense.
