Steve Angeli

“Seems like Steve won’t be here for a couple weeks.”

Ok, that doesn’t sound too bad. We have a bye after Duke.

“But he will always be the leader of this football team.”

Ok, that seems much more ominous.
Fran also said he will be out a long time, I am pretty sure he may be done. Rickie gotta do it, starting with Duke in front of a sellout crowd!

I feel like we potentially just won the battle, but lost the war today. Rickie did not inspire much confidence for me. I don’t recall us getting a first down until the last series, and that was all Yasin.

Based of how he/we looked, if we didn’t lose Angeli I’d feel confident in us having a chance in just about every remaining game and having a good season. Now I just hope we can get 3 more wins.

We scored a touchdown 😂 and picked up a first down a drive or two later, so I don’t know what you’re talking about. Rickie’s only going to get better as he gets more reps with the first team, studies more film, and continues getting coached up by Jeff. By Saturday, he’ll be ready.

If Angeli is done for the year, we couldn't have asked for much more than getting us off to 3-1 to start this season.

The goals for this season all remain intact.

Did we move the ball on the drive though? Pretty sure we were already in scoring position. It was a good TD pass for sure, but it was 3 and out city with Rickie at QB

This kinda how I felt, was totally pumped about the win but then after started thinking about life without QB1 Angeli. It's going to be a tougher road ahead, but we have a lot of talent.

Yeah it’ll be interesting to see him with a full week of prep and reps how he comes out for us against Duke. But it’s hard for a qb to come in mid game and fully succeed since the game plan is designed based off what Angeli likes to do over Collins.

I hope we can continue and we shall see. Everyone else needs to continue to step up! If we need to be a heavy run team I think we can do it with lots of RPOs and Option Reads between Collins and RBs to allow him to get into the game with his legs.

He’s a raw, inexperienced QB—what do you really expect? He’s going up against a Clemson defense that’s loaded with talent, even if they are 1–3. On top of that, he’s only been practicing with the 1s for about a month, so it’s unrealistic to think he’s just going to start driving the ball up and down the field right away. We also had a three-score lead, so it made sense to stay conservative and avoid putting the ball in harm’s way.
Let’s see how things look next week after he’s had another full week with the 1s, more coaching from Jeff Nixon, plus guidance from Steve. With that combination of reps, coaching, and preparation, we’ll get a clearer picture of how he can handle being the starter.
