Calling it now, I think he’s going to be the starter against Tennessee. Cuse football twitter with its own dedicated post highlighting his arrival. The chip he will have on his shoulder after putting so much work into the Notre Dame program, doing it the right way. Always looked good on the field when his name was called, but was never enough to be the full time starter there. Potential legendary story brewing here.

There’s an Angeli standing in the sun
And he’s crying with a loud voice,
“This is the season of the mighty one”

I'm just happy that regardless of who the starter is, Angeli or Collins, we should have a very capable backup ready to go in case of injury.

Whenever Dungey had his annual injury, or Garrett got knocked out, it always felt like we suddenly became a Pop Warner Team.

Steve "Gabriel the Arch" Angeli

It’s better that he, and Collins, are on the team. Question is, is that sufficient?

Not much of a hot take, of course he's going to be the starter.

Good guy. Well thought of by everyone at ND.

Good quarterback with a quick release and very accurate with his throws.

He handles the offense well and makes good reads.

His drawback is that he is not very mobile and prone to sacks.

I would have been happy with Angeli as ND's starting QB this year, but Freeman went with CJ Carr or Kenny Minchey.

He will be a very good QB for Syracuse this year.

I like our options. Angeli can potentially step into the "McCord" offense and Rickie can potentially be our next "Warrior" QB. Also, I like the idea of two guys with different styles and hopefully both can see the field depending upon the situation. The question is how well the potential will translate to results on the field.

I think it is cool that Tennessee has to prepare for both... potentially different styles. Plus, if they are taking away what our starter does best, we can sub with a different skill set.
I don't think its very likely Tennessee has to prepare for both. I'm pretty sure Fran will settle on a starting QB and announce it much sooner than right before the Tennessee game kicks off. Seems like he sees a lot more value in having everyone know where the QB room stands than in the slight one game advantage of an opponent not knowing our starter.
