I hate the loss as much as anyone but we had that game in hand and gave it away again just like last week - stupid mistakes all around. More exciting football this year than last year...just love the offense, the defense just needs to be simplified as it seems the players are lost at times. The D just needs to go simple as you can run last year's D with freshmen & softmores. Those younger players just need more strength & conditioning too many missed tackles - they just need to get stronger and older that's why you redshirt.

I still believe and am just encouraged by all the youngsters - once they put together a full 4 quarters watch out. We will beat Pitt next week.

The D is absolutely an issue but so is the O. At the end of the day the D allowed 17 points in regulation, scored 7 points, and gave the O the ball on the 30 which led to another 7 points. Shouldn't that be enough to win? All we need the O to do was put up another 14 points outside of that and we win the game. Is that asking much?

I guess I was having trouble finding more than 5 wins this year. I just wasn't confident about the last two road games.

Maybe a different story at home. But we were playing roadies against teams with a slight talent edge despite their records.

cant see another win on the schedule
so tired after over 60 yrs of supporting this team just so discouraged with the last 15
HCSS needs to stop handing out bs on how disappointing for the kids this is and think about how the alumni , fans etc feel and do something about it !!!
I will continue to cheer just not as foolishly as in the past
and you wonder why we don't have larger home crowds
I DON'T

It's not disappointing for the kids?

Wish I could be as optimistic as you but I can't. This was the most painful loss we have had since Rutgers in 2011. We had to have this one. BC is the only win I see left on our schedule and that is no sure thing. Hope I am very wrong believe me. Future is bright but 2015 is looking bleak

You guys are giving NC State way too much credit.

I was there and saw a lot to be excited about.

If you or anybody else doesn't want to watch Dungey play in the Dome, it's your mistake and your loss.

This a very young team that needs to grow up a bit.

I find nothing foolish about rooting for it

NC State is not a good team. The problem is SU could be going into the game on a 7 game losing streak. If we played them next week I would give us a great chance to win. But I think it will end up like last year's Pitt game (who was not good). We were coming off a bye and were the healthiest we had been since Louisville but the team had nothing left in the tank. What will we have left is we are 3-7?

This loss hurts big time. Reminds me alot of the 2011 Rutgers loss that ended up costing a decent team a bowl bid. I liked the look of the offense before the play-calling got too conservative in the 2nd half.

The defense and coaching decisions cost us this game. If you are Shafer and know your defense is gassed after playing the entire 4th quarter and 2 overtimes why not try to win it with a 2-point conversion? Hindsight for sure but I said the same thing in the stands as we lined up for the PAT in the second overtime.

Either that or win in regulation like we should have. :bat:

Against all reason, I'm with you.

Nothing would surprise me with this team.

If this team has it click, I can see 7 regular season wins still. But I can also see zero more regular season wins.

But I'm an irrational fan, so I'll go 9 regular season wins and a bowl win to get us to ten.

Dungey ends up fourth in Heisman voting.

I still think 6 wins is possible, but highly improbable at this point. We COULD get 2 wins out of Pitt, NC State, Louisville, and BC but I honestly don't see us getting any more than 2 in that mix.

The last team to win 7 regular season games started the year 2-4 with 2 of the 6 remaining games against a top 10 and top 25 opponent.

I'm pretty pissed off we lost (though wayyyyy less than the kids I am sure) but I will enjoy watching this team grow.

If we were a senior laden team who was going to have to rebuild next year this would be a lot harder to swallow but knowing how young we are and that we will be able to watch them grow game by game for the next 2-3 years gives me reason to tune in this year regardless of w/l

I said that in the chatroom and only comment was no way. The D was gassed and trheonly way to win is going for two.
